WhiteTree is a Japanese wellness and beauty brand in Singapore, with their own tea brand created by medical herbalists.

It has opened a café concept located within one of the shophouses along Circular Road, on the 2nd floor above The Mask Restaurant and Bar.

Without any sugar, artificial fragrance, colourings and caffeine, WhiteTree products can be found in 6 countries around the world including Singapore, Japan, Hawaii, and other parts of Southeast Asia.

Stepping inside, the 17 seater-space has a simple, minimalist-clean look, with natural sunlight pouring in through the glass windows.

Housing both a retail space and a salon under the same roof as their cafe concept, WhiteTree offer a wellness-centric menu that includes WhiteTree Herbal Salad ($18), Pink Vegetable Salad ($18), Minestrone Soup ($15), Acai (Small $7, Large $13) and Pastries ($3.90 – $5).

The Pink Vegetable Salad ($18) came beautifully plated with purple cabbage, beetroot, dragonfruit, turnips, Roma tomatoes and cabbage.

Seasoned with light citrusy and tangy drizzle, there was a delightful textural crunch in the individual components, though it may be too “healthy-tasting” for some people due to the lack of richer-tasting sauces.

Their signature item is their selection of Wellness Tea ($12 per pot) that focuses on the beauty and well-being of consumers.

The teas are differentiated by their functions such as Beauty, Detox, Calming, Whitening, Circulation, Warm Up, Energy, Shiny and for Nursing Mother.

Individual glasses of their Wellness Tea are also available at $5.50 for their hot drinks and $8.50 for their iced versions.

The bestseller is the Beauty Blend ($12 per pot) that consists of lemon balm, orange peel, linden, hibiscus, lavender, raspberry leaf, pink rose, roschip and stevia.

Aiding to restore the hormonal balance in women to reduce hair loss and keeping the skin radiant, the Beauty Blend also helps to improve blood circulation and ease PMS symptoms.

I can understand why people will enjoy their tea, being non-sweetened yet flavourful in taste with a soothing aroma that was not overwhelming.

Apart from the healthy options, there are the usual cafe offerings such as Croissant (Plain $3.90, Chocolate $4, Almond $5), Cinnamon Bun ($4.50), Raisin Roll ($4.50), Specialty Coffee ($4.50 – $6.90), Mocktail ($6.90) and Sparkling drinks ($6.90).

WhiteTree Cafe is perhaps an ideal spot for a quiet afternoon tea in the CBD, perhaps they can expand on their menu to offer a bigger selection of tea-centric desserts.
