Fans of popular Japanese udon joint Tamoya Udon & Tempura will be thrilled to know that they’ve just opened a second outlet at Paya Lebar’s SingPost Centre! With 17 outlets worldwide, the restaurant was founded by Chef Tamotsu Kurokawa, the “Sanuki Udon Champion” of a Japanese reality cooking show.

Tamoya Udon & Tempura takes pride in serving fresh udon that’s hand-pulled daily. Their udon is well-loved for its firm and chewy texture—it’s made using a mix of three different flours imported from Japan.

Their new Paya Lebar outlet features a number of new menu items, including the tangy Tomato Cream Udon ($13.40+) and Carbonara Udon ($13.40+), made with a creamy, cheesy broth. There’s also Ankake Udon ($14.40+), comprising thick soup made from fish broth, seasoned with soy sauce.

You can top up your meal with an onsen egg ($1.70+), ebiko ($2.50+), and mentaiko sauce ($3), or opt for extra chashu slices for $1.90+.

One of the restaurant’s best-sellers is the Sanuki Beef Egg Udon ($12.70+). This crowd-favourite features handmade udon topped with a jiggly onsen egg and tender beef slices, simmered in the restaurant’s signature bonito soup stock.

Otherwise, try the Black Garlic Tonkotsu Udon ($12.30+). This gets you the same al dente Japanese udon in a rich and creamy tonkotsu broth, doused with house-made black garlic oil. It also comes with a generous serving of chashu slices, crunchy bamboo shoots, and an ajitama egg.

Besides udon, the restaurant offers bento meals, including Salmon Teriyaki Bento ($13.10+) and Beef Bento ($13.10+). Both dishes are accompanied by Japanese rice on the side, along with two pieces of mushroom tempura and a salad.
