Be a pizza globetrotter as PizzaExpress treats your palate with new flavours from around the world. Don’t let Covid-19 dampen your wanderlust.

Their new “Around The World” menu is ready to take you on a journey of tastes to USA, Mexico, Japan and Italy.

Discover toppings inspired by the signature cuisines of East and West, like USA Hamburger Pizza, Japanese Okonomiyaki Pizza, Mexican Chilli Beef Pizza and more.

Some background on PizzaExpress: Thanks to Peter Boizot, the man who brought authentic Italian pizzas to UK, PizzaExpress was born. Unhappy with the pizzas in London, he shipped a pizza oven from Italy and opened the first PizzaExpress on Wardour Street.

Decor-wise, the features include black and white logo, and use of signature monocromatic stripes for the uniforms and interior.

The secret to success, is said to be in the dough – all kneaded fresh and made in-house with flour exclusively imported in for PizzaExpress.

Now, you can enjoy the same modern Italian pizzas from three stores across Singapore, or from the comfort of your own home via island-wide delivery at https://pizzaexpresssg.oddle.me.

Some of its classic best-sellers include the rectangular Calabrese, Carbonara Pizza, America Hottest Pizza, to locally-inspired Laksa Pizza (available limited period till end May 2021).

Or you can pick these ‘Around The World’ pizzas, priced at $26 each. Each comes with an 11-inch base – proudly the 1965 original and thick and chewy Neapolitan pizza base. Here’s more:

Hamburger Pizza ($26)
The iconic American sandwich hamburger takes an Italian turn as it morphs into an irresistible thin-crust pizza.

It begins with the pizza incorporated with classic elements of a hamburger like cheese (mozzarella, cheddar cheese sauce), tomatoes (passata), meats (minced beef and pancetta), and veggies (Spanish red onion, cherry tomatoes, gherkin, and Romaine lettuce).

Toppings like cheddar cheese sauce, mustard mayo, oregano, black pepper, and garlic oil make this look like a pizza but would remind you of a cheeseburger.

Of the newly introduced “Around The World” series, this is my personal favourite as the flavours of the ingredients matches best with the thin, chewy signature base.

Okonomiyaki Pizza ($26)
Inspired by the popular Japanese street food okonomiyaki, this pizza is a tribute to Japan and its wide range of flavours.

At the base lies a spread of creamy bechamel sauce and a layer of shredded mozzarella. A blend of meats and seafood are topped into it, like cooked ham, pancetta (a.k.a. the Italian bacon), tiger prawns and squid rings.

The taste illusion is completed with the addition of Takoyaki sauce, Japanese mayo, a drizzle of garlic oil, and a sprinkle of seaweed and bonito flakes that can bring you to Osaka.

I like my Okonomiyaki with heavier drizzling of sauces, so I think this pizza can afford to have more of that Takoyaki sauce.

Chilli Beef Pizza ($26)
Sneak in a fiery fiesta to your plate with this Mexican-inspired pizza.

Combining the satisfying taste of minced beef and the perky spiciness of grilled jalapeno peppers, this pizza rests on a bed of passata (thick tomato purée) and mozzarella cheese.

A colourful mix of toppings further livens it up, like Spanish red onion, bright red cherry tomatoes, dark red kidney beans, and green oregano and cilantro.

As a fitting finale, it is served topped with a drizzle of garlic oil and Mexican-style nacho chips. Interesting.

Etna Pizza ($26)
For the meat lover, the Etna Pizza is a perfect choice with its savoury mix of N’duja sausage and pancetta.

This 11-incher traditional Italian fave bursting with sweet pappadew peppers to balance off the savoury-ness of the meats. It doesn’t take that many toppings to make this an iconic crowd-favourite.

A dusting of Parmesan is all it needs, and this pizza is just almost-perfect. This is the safe choice for those who prefer the more classic flavours.

Other than pizzas, have your fill with other sides and Pasta dishes, including Spicy Lemon Chicken Linguine ($16), Spaghetti Bolognese ($21), Linguine Granchio con Panna ($29) to Penne Arrabiata ($16).

There is also a vegan choice of Impossible Teriyaki Spaghetti ($29).

Linguine Gamberoni al Aglio Olio ($25.50)
Complement your pizza of choice with an aglio olio style pasta. The simplicity of this Linguine Gamberoni pasta is backed by punchy flavours of garlic, chilli flakes and fresh parsley.

A light yet filling pasta with its plump, juicy and bouncy prawns.

Prawns with Lemon Garlic Butter ($18.50)
Add in a seafood starter with these prawns in lemon garlic butter sauce. Plump and juicy tiger prawns are sauteed in an aromatic sauce peppered with hints of spice, a bright sparkling citrusy taste.

Served with breadsticks to help soak up the sauce. Loved the strong garlicky and buttery flavours.

Leggera Superfood Salad ($19.50)
First introduced in London, Leggera Superfood Salad is a popular diet-friendly dish as it only rings in under 300 calories.

Fill yourself up with healthy rockets and mesclun, accompanied with spinach, cucumber, lentils, beetroot, butternut squash, avocado, and fresh basil.

A sprinkling of pine kernels adds a textural crunch to the salad, while the fresh mozzarella gives it a lovely and velvety element. Everything is tied together in a light balsamic syrup.

Dough Balls Doppio ($14.00)
Don’t miss out on these iconic dough balls – it’s like the must-haves here. Or perhaps get a double portion.

Each one is soft and chewy and full of fresh-from-the-oven baked goodness aroma and flavour, to be dipped in garlic butter, pesto Genovese, and pesto Siciliano sauces.

The vegan version comes in a trio of olive oil & balsamic, aubergine and sundried tomato & walnut dip.
