Pasta de Dak-Galbi, Kimchi Bacon Croffle Pizza, Shrimp Volcano Rice, Rosti & Bulgogi Beef, and Jolly Pong Coffee may not be the conventional food you would find, but these are Korean-Western comfort food with a twist.

NY Night Market is a South Korean resto chain inspired by the cosmopolitan flavours of New York City and the night market ambiance of Seoul.

With more than 160 stores, it is one of South Korean’s fastest growing chains and even expanded to Singapore with two outlets – 313@somerset mall and VivoCity.

It is known for its Korean-Western comfort food and beer cocktails, almost synonymous to a night of fun celebration over food and good company.

Popular among the young and young at heart, NY Night Market is now showcasing its revamped menu.

Featuring all-day brunch items, the new menu gives you more selections for fun fusion dishes ideal for sharing. Here’s more on NY Night Market’s NEW highlights:

Chicken Croffle ($16.90)
A cross between a croissant and a waffle, the croffle is a soft and fluffy golden-brown waffle baked using croissant pastry.

You may need to get some getting used to this texture (if you always been having the fluffy Belgian Waffles), but this works as an interesting twist.

Served as a tandem with a juicy deep-fried chicken thigh and mixed salad making this an ideal all-day brunch item.

The chicken’s savoury fried flavour contrasts the sweetness from the drizzle of homemade maple butter syrup over freshly baked croffles. Made extra rich with a dollop of whipped cream.

Fondue Chicken Burger ($17.90)
A crisp and juicy chunk of chicken thigh is nestled in between warm toasted buns, along with char-grilled pineapple slice, sweet onion marmalade, and fresh rocket greens.

Available for all-day brunch, this chicken burger is inspired by Swiss fondue and prepared with sloppy-good melted nacho cheese sauce.

Don’t be shocked to find this burger stabbed, ready for its close up. An eye-catching burger accompanied with shoestring fries for your sheer munching pleasure.

The rich nacho cheese sauce does get slightly rich (and messy to eat with hands), so feel free to use the knife and split the burger into two for sharing.

Bulgogi Beef Hotdog ($14.90)
Laden over a tender, lightly toasted hot dog bun is a Korean classic marinated beef bulgogi. An all-day brunch item served with a side of crisp-fried potato wedges.

The savoury beef mince is drizzled with creamy onion mayo and an in-house BBQ sauce for that steakhouse vibe.

I enjoyed this rendition as the beef slices were tender and juicy seeping with sweet, savoury, smoky flavours, and some of those juices would be absorbed by the fluffy bun.

If Beef Bulgogi is not your thing, feel free to switch it to Egg Bacon ($12.90), Pork Sausage ($14.90) or Spicy Dakgalbi Chicken ($14.90).

Bulgogi Beef Cream Pasta ($16.90)
Head off to the noods section of the menu and find this Korean-Italian fusion pasta.

This hearty dish combines the umami of bulgogi beef slices with the earthiness of mushroom trio – shiitake, champignon and portobello.

Al dente strands of linguine are strewn in a rich and velvety white wine cream sauce. Served in a hot cast iron topped with a poached egg and finished with Grana Padano shavings and more cheesiness.

The pasta dishes are also the best-sellers in the restaurant, and choices here include Cream Chicken Pasta ($15.90), Spicy Hong Kong Noodle ($17.90), Pasta de Dak-Galbi ($15.90) and Mentaiko Rose Pasta ($15.90).

BBQ Bulgogi Croffle Pizza ($17.90)
The croissant-slash-waffle fusion aka croffle is further stretched out of the ordinary by turning it into pizza.

Shredded mozzarella is spread over a croffle, then topped with sweet-marinated beef bulgogi, capsicum strips and drizzles of BBQ sauce.

A NY Night Market creation that melds the sweet and savoury in a waffle-based pizza.

Other topping variations include Gorgonzola ($16.90), Spicy Dakgalbi ($17.90), Beef Pepperoni ($16.90), and Kimchi Bacon ($16.90).

Pan-grilled Chicken Salad and More ($15.90)
Load up with greens and get a salad, but make it a filling one. Up front and centre are slices of in-house spicy marinated chicken leg, flanked with mixed leafy greens sprinkled with Grana Padano cheese.

Adding variety to your plate are sliced garlic bread, quinoa, rice noodles, and a mixed salad of corn, peas and beans with yuzu wasabi dressing.

Overall, I found this slightly carb-heavy and very filling even though it is a salad.

Not in the mood for chicken? You can change the protein and make it Shrimp Noodle ($17.90) featuring shrimps tossed in a chili dressing, or BBQ Beef Steak ($18.90) with a hefty serving of beef ribeye in BBQ sauce.

Sausage Platter ($29.90)
Looking for something new for sharing? The Sausage Platter is the latest addition to the party platters.

Bring home this loaded set of meaty sausages (pork & chicken), crisp-fried potato wedges, and baked garlic tortilla. Plus, each order comes with a skillet of comforting Mac & Cheese, the slightly burnt gratin on top calling you to dig in.

Comes with a cool duo of ranch cheese sauce and salsa dips to keep the party rolling.

Specialty Coffee
With the variety in the food menu, drinks are definitely not left out.

They offer a rainbow of drinks from holiday smoothies and frappes to craft beers and cocktails, and of course coffee. You’re bound to find something that gives you that caffeine fix plus some flavour to it.

Purists can choose from any of the standard espresso drinks, but if you want an unconventional brew, try their specialty coffees like Sea Salt Caramel Latte ($6 hot; $6.50 iced), Speculoos Late ($6 hot; $6.50 iced), Jolly Pong Coffee ($6 iced), and Coconut Americano ($6 iced).

You can’t get more Korean than with Jolly Pong Coffee, an aromatic iced espresso with milk served with a topping of Korean puffed rice snack.
