Hvala has a new outlet at Takashimaya

Tea specialist Hvala is now open at Takashimaya Shopping Centre, in the heart of Orchard Road—giving us yet another beautiful cafe to hang out at in town.

Located at Basement Two of Ngee Ann City, under the walkway between Takashimaya and Wisma Atria, the new space is no different from Hvala’s other outlets. As with their other locations, this new Hvala cafe offers a mix of small and communal tables, meant to encourage conversation between different groups of people.

You’ll find the same, tastefully minimalistic decor, with touches of wood, paper lanterns, and scrolls of calligraphy—a soothing oasis of respite amidst the busyness.

Also found here is the same comprehensive menu of teas, available as cold or hot brews, ice blended drinks, lattes, and transformed into the desserts that Hvala is well-known for.

If you can’t decide, the Matcha Houjicha Latte ($5.90++/$6.90++) sees a house-made houjicha syrup layered with fresh milk and a freshly-whisked shot of matcha.

Go for their Dairy-Free Waffles ($12.90++), sprinkled with roasted rice and accompanied by oatmilk or Matcha gelato. There’s also Chaffogato ($7.90++), spiked with a shot of intense matcha or houjicha in their take on affogato.

Get Hvala’s take on Mont Blanc with a Goma Mont Noir ($8.90++), made with black sesame-chestnut paste, or Matcha Mont Blanc ($8.90++). There’s also their popular Kinako Warabi Mochi ($6.20++), for wobbly, melt-in-your-mouth pillows dusted with soy bean powder, and served with Japanese kuromitsu.

Otherwise, the Matcha Azuki Parfait ($11.90++) comes with gelato, warabi mochi, azuki, and even dango.

Exclusive to this new Takashimaya outlet from now till 10 September 2022 is their vegan-friendly Matcha Mooncake with Mochi (Price TBA). These handcrafted pastries are only available in very limited quantities, and feature a what’s said to be an ultra-flaky crust with a matcha mung bean paste filling, and a centre of soft mochi.
