Flourcrafts Patisserie is a unique bakery in Tanjong Pagar

Tanjong Pagar is no longer just brimming with Korean restaurants and late-night bars. Look closer, and you’ll find several hidden bakeries such as The French Pastry and Elijah Pies. Adding on to the list is Flourcrafts Patisserie, a bakery that specialises in caneles and tarts. It’s a four-minute walk from Tanjong Pagar MRT Station, so it shouldn’t be a hassle to find your way there.

It has been less than a year since Flourcrafts Patisserie opened their humble store—they were previously a home-based business. Though known for their caneles and tarts, the bakery also offers other bakes such as financiers and madeleines, as well as mooncakes during the Mid-Autumn Festival too!

Currently, their caneles come in 10 different flavours: Baileys Rocher, Pistachio Cremeux, MSW Durian, Pandan Kaya, TWG French Earl Grey, Taro, Uji Matcha, Milo Dinosaur, Valrhona Hazelnut, and the classic Vanilla Rum. Among these, their Taro Canele ($4.80) is said to be one of the most popular among patrons. It’s packed with orh nee paste that’s made to be less sweet, and topped with even more yam paste on top.

We were pleasantly surprised to see that they also have MSW Durian Canele ($5.50) as it’s not a common flavour for the French pastry. Durian lovers will dig this as it features a caramelised, crispy crust with rich durian cream within.

Aside from their caneles, you can find seasonal tarts here that change up from time to time. At the time of writing, there are four flavours to choose from: Matcha Daifuku, Black Sesame Daifuku, Pistachio Berry, and Yuzu Mikan. Their Black Sesame Daifuku boasts a black sesame tart topped with a chewy mochi daifuku. And even better, you’ll find a generous layer of mochi within the tart itself.

For fans of bittersweet combinations, their Matcha Daifuku (price TBD) is a must-try. If you want to try a bit of everything, we encourage you to get their Kaiseki Tart Set ($34), which comes in a set of four.

Do note that you’re encouraged to place an order online before heading down to collect.
