Flips N Dips has Western food under $10 at Paya Lebar Square

Newly opened at Paya Lebar Square’s food court is Flips N Dips, a Muslim-owned Western stall that is quickly becoming a favourite among residents and office-goers in the area. They’re mainly known for their large portions, affordable prices, and unique sauces.

This Underrated Western Stall Has XL Chicken Chop And Fried Chicken Under $10

A perennial favourite that’s available here is Grilled Chicken Chop ($7.90). The chicken had a pleasant char on the outside and was relatively tender.

Other familiar classics include Crispy Chicken Cutlet ($7.90), Half Crispy Spring Chicken ($8.60) and Fish & Chips ($9). Each dish comes with a generous side of fries, coleslaw, a fried mantou, as well as a sauce of your choice.

Priding themselves on blending Malay spices with Western dishes, diners can pick from an array of locally inspired sauces on the menu.

Apart from lemak chilli padi, a spicy coconut milk-based sauce, you can top up $1 to try their more unique sauces such as masek merah, AKA spicy tomato gravy, chilli crab, mentaiko, and salted egg. More common sauces including mushroom, black pepper, and nacho cheese are also available at no extra charge.

Enjoy Flip N Dips’ sauces to their fullest by ordering one of the pastas. The Lemak Chilli Padi Pasta with Fried Dory ($8.50), for instance, features a huge piece of breaded dory and a heaping serving of spaghetti, drenched in a piquant and punchy lemak chilli sauce.

The dory was moist and flaky, with a well-fried, crispy breading that provided some textural contrast.

Diners who aren’t feeling too adventurous can have tried-and-true pasta sauces instead, such as Aglio Olio With Grilled Chicken ($6.80) or Chicken Chop Cream Pasta ($7)

As for burgers, the FND Signature Jumbo Burger ($7) is a hearty option that consists of lettuce, fried onion, a deep-fried mozzarella cheese patty, a slice of melted cheddar cheese and a 130g beef patty sandwiched between fluffy burger buns.

These extra indulgent ingredients are made even more sinful in the Volcano Lava Three Cheese Burger ($11.50), which features the same signature burger drenched in nacho cheese sauce.

Big eaters or friend groups can even consider getting one of Flips N Dips’ premium platters. While they seem pricey at first, their large portions and variety of meats make for a satisfying, value-for-money meal.

A group of two to three can enjoy a Trio Platter Mixed Grill ($18.90), which has a striploin steak, chicken chop, and salmon fillet with thick-cut fries. Alternatively, the Premium Platter Mixed Grill ($26.90) feeds three to four people and includes lobster, striploin steak, chicken chop or cutlet, fried dory and three chunky scallops.
