Dewgather, pronounced as “together” has opened at The Star Vista alongside with other new indie cafes such as The Headless Baker & Sons 無頭師 .

Featuring a spacious 20-seater space indoors and 40 seats outdoors in an elongated layout, Dewgather has a contemporary look decked in dusty pink with industrial flooring.

On a good day, diners can expect sunlight pouring in through the glass roof, which brightened up the entire space.

Coffee, Drinks and Toasties are available all day around, consisting of 5 different Toasties: Truffle Honey with Vegemite ($8), Nutella with Berry & Peanut Butter ($7), Hickory Smoked Ham ($7), Texas Pulled Pork ($9) and Tuna ($7).

As for the Mains, Sides and Desserts, they are only available from 11am onwards on weekdays and 9am on weekends.

Their mains menu features a selection of brunch dishes that are pretty similar to many cafe, about $2-$3 higher.

These include Dewgather Breakfast ($22), Salmon Avocado ($20), Hummus in the Pan ($15), Waffle & Fried Chicken ($20), French Toast ($18), Linguine Puttanesca ($17) and Barramundi Fish Burger ($25).

Chef’s recommendation include the Dew Harvest Bowl ($22) and Dew Swordfish Pasta ($24).

I ordered most popular brunch item, Salmon Avo ($20) that comes with house cured salmon with 63 Degree eggs, smashed avocado, lemon pith puree on a sourdough with fresh vegetables on the sides.

Instead of using smashed avocado that comes in small cubes, the avocado is blended to create a smooth and creamy texture, in contrast to the crispy texture of the sourdough.

The lemon pith puree adds a pleasant citrus zest, which cuts through the creaminess of the blended avocado.

63 degree Celsius sous vide eggs are used instead of the usual poached eggs that we are familiar with, which unfortunately doesn’t work well in this case which appeared to be more lumpy.

The French Toast ($18) looks “instagrammable” with a scoop of Crème anglaise ice cream, topped with brown sugar crumble, crushed pistachio, berry compote, purple candy floss with edible flowers on top of the thick sliced brioche toast.

Frankly speaking, the overall taste is sweet, especially with the candy floss and icing sugar added which works for-the-gram and not so much for the taste.

What I liked most is the brioche toast, slightly crispy on the edges with a fluffy and chewy texture on the inside which becomes moist after soaking in the cream foam and melted ice cream.

Using the Victoria Arduino Eagle One espresso machine from Satino and a 3-beans-blend from Brazil, Colombia and Ethiopia for their espresso-based drinks, the coffee beans are roasted by 2 Degrees North Coffee Co.

The prices are pretty reasonable starting from $3 for a cup of single shot espresso.

Other espresso-drinks can be found here, namely Black ($4), White ($4.50), Mocha ($6.50), Espresso Tonic ($5), Dirty ($5), Black Cold Brew ($4.50) and White Cold Brew ($5.50).

Optional add-ons are available: Espresso Shot ($1), Iced ($1), Bonsoy ($1) and Oat Milk ($1).

My cup of 8oz Flat White ($5.50) comes wth 2 espresso shots with a dark roast, smooth, full bodied with acidic finish.

There is also a good selection of non-espresso drinks here: Marou Hot Chocolate ($8), Matcha/ Hojicha Latte ($8) using matcha/ Hojicha powder from Niko Neko, Fruit Juices ($6) and Coolers ($5).

With a good selection of items on the menu, Dewgather will be a good place to gather together (wow it rhymes).
