There’s a certain charm to heartland boutique cafes focusing on specialty coffees.

Covet Coffee is the new kid on the block, located near Bishan Ang Mo Kio Park, serving Espresso-based drinks.

Just Like Nylon Coffee Roasters at Everton Park and Brew & Co. at Ang Mo Kio, these boutique cafes are conducive pit stops for a quick cup of coffee, though they may not have a complete food menu.

Covet means “yearn to possess”.

The interior is painted both white and pink (because the owner loves pink) with a long coffee bar counter on one side and 5 tables on the other side for dine-in purposes.

Coffee items over at Covet Coffee include Espresso-based drinks ($5.50 – $6), Filter Coffee ($7 – $12), Tea Latte ($6) and Chocolate ($6.50 – $7.50).

2 types of coffee beans are available, a single origin of Costa Rica ($6) and a 3-beans-blend ($5.50) of Colombia, Costa Rica and Ethiopia roasted by Tad Coffee Company.

Add-on options such as additional Espresso shot (+$0.50), Oat Milk (+$0.50), Low Fat Milk (+$0.50), Iced (+$0.50).

Do note that additional $0.30 applies for takeaway coffee, probably one of the unusual occasions since most takeaway coffees are priced the same as dine-in.

My cup of Flat White ($5.50) using the Anna Blend (Colombia, Costa Rica and Ethiopia) was well-balanced and had a smooth and medium body.

The flavours were robust with dark chocolates and cherries taste, coupled with bright, citrus blueberries notes in the finishing.

Using freshly whisked matcha for their Matcha Latte ($6), I was glad that the cup was unsweetened.

Unfortunately, the matcha was somewhat lacking in depth, leaning towards the bland side. So perhaps they can better work on the proportions?
