Chiew Kee Noodle House is distinguishable with its bright red signage. Now available in two locations, Chinatown (main branch) and Bukit Merah, Chiew Kee Noodle House has been the go-to spot for locals to indulge in succulent soya sauce chicken in Singapore. The story started in 1949 when the owners returned from Hong Kong and wanted to create their own version of soya sauce chicken.

Hong Kong’s version and Singapore’s version can be differentiated through the colours. Hong Kong’s soya sauce chicken is lighter in tone, whereas Singapore’s is much darker. Using the same recipe since the beginning of operations, many make their way to Chiew Kee Noodle House for the familiar and comforting taste. So, how does Chiew Kee’s soya sauce chicken taste like?

It is a combination of sweet and salty, but you will taste the sweetness a little more than the saltiness. In other words, their specialty is rich in flavour. Pair it together with egg noodles, and call it a complete meal. Apart from light and springy noodles, they also offer smooth and silky hor fun. A soya sauce drumstick is priced at $5, and soya sauce chicken is priced at $4. Or, feed the whole family with a whole chicken priced at $28.
