Since the beginning of the pandemic, there were many rules and regulations in place for dining in. During the first-ever circuit breaker, buffets were not allowed. After close to one year, buffets will be returning to Singapore with some safety measures in place. Here’s what you need to know!

Yes For Buffets, No For Self-Service

As of 12th April (Monday), staff-served food lines are now back in operations, in accordance with the Association of Catering Professionals in Singapore. This is applicable to food and beverage outlets, corporate and work-related events, meetings, incentives, conventions, and exhibitions.

However, do take note that weddings, funeral services, and social activities are yet to be allowed. Although buffets are now allowed, there are some rules and regulations imposed. First and foremost, diners cannot have direct contact with food.

That simply means that servers will be serving the food to you. Servers must ensure plates are not reused. In addition to this, plastic shields will be placed on the dishes served, and servers are required to wear masks and gloves at all times. Desserts will be served via a trolley, and beverages must be ordered via a digital menu.

Diners queueing for food must wear masks, and required one meter away from other people queueing. For MICE industries, food lines can accommodate up to 50 people only. Some other rules include a safe management representative must be present, different zones are required and these zones must not be served at the same time.

Buffets Are Now Running

It appears that there are several up and running buffets in town. You can check out Carousel at Royal Plaza on Scotts and StraitsKitchen at the Grand Hyatt Singapore.
