New restaurants in August 2021

We’re into the thick of it when it comes to P2HA 2.0, which means now, more than ever, do F&B establishments need our support. While dining out is still banned till 18 August, you can show your support by taking away or ordering delivery from some of these new restaurants to check out in August.

1. Orange & Teal

Orange & Teal is established by local politician Chee Soon Juan. Upon its opening, this Rochester-based cafe drew long queues day after day, with the public curious to try out first-hand what a politician’s foray into F&B would taste like.

We went down to give the dishes a gamble, and we’re here to report that Orange & Teal specialises in homely fare. While the dishes don’t have the most finesse, prices are nett, and the service at the cafe makes you feel well taken care of, in spite of the bustle.

Try the Creamy Butter Tuscan Salmon ($20.80), where a generous portion of butter-poached salmon is served on a bed of lightly sauced linguini, or treat yourself to their Okinawa Milk Tea Cake ($5.60) for tea of dessert. Do take note that lunch offerings are only available for order after 11:30am!

Milkfish, located at Basement One of Raffles City, sees a collaboration with local collagen soup brand Áo Broth. Slow-boiled with clams and its namesake fish, the creamy, sweet soup at Milkfish contains no dairy, MSG, or preservatives. The Signature Soup ($12.80++) features slices of red snapper alongside clams, a fresh prawn, vegetables, tofu, and a house-made meat patty. For something more luxurious, get the Premium Soup Set ($32.80++), which includes half a lobster, a whole abalone, and scallops!

The Dirty Dog ($12++) is a loaded pork hotdog served on a brioche bun, delightfully messy to chow down on with a beer alongside.
