How many alphabets are there in the word “brunch”?
6 letters!
Opened by the folks behind 6 Letters Coffee at Tanjong Katong, 6 Letters Brunch is the newest kid to join the #EastCoastPlan at Siglap.
While you are there, pther cafes you may want to visit around Siglap includes FLOR Patisserie, Five Oars Coffee Roasters, La Fez, Chanterelle Café and Patisserie CLÉ..
Located along Frankel Avenue (where Dutch Colony Coffee Co. is), 6 Letter Brunch is pretty spacious with a total of 16 tables indoors and a front porch area that accommodates another 4 tables and 4 bicycle racks.
At a first glance, I initially thought that it is a bicycle cafe, with two Mumar 24-inch Vintage bicycles parked at the entrance and another two vintage bicycles parked indoors.
It has a garden theme with many potted plants, a small alfresco dining area at the backyard, a kids corner, main dining hall and a front porch to park your bikes.
Here, they are also sharing the same space with their other business – 8 Letter Mani-Padi Nail Salon which has since shifted from Tanjong Katong.
Serving an extensive menu with over 100 items, there are All Day Brunch items ($7 – $25), Salad ($11), Soup ($6), Meats/ Fish ($16 – $25), Burger ($16 – $28), Pasta ($15 – $21), Sides ($6 – $26), Kid’s Meal ($9 – $12), Smoothie Bowl ($12 – $13), Waffle $8 – $16), Gelato (Single $4, Double $6) and Desserts ($8 – $12).
12 new dishes are exclusive to 6 Letter Brunch, namely Sweet Potato Rosti ($16), Salmon Rosti ($18), Crabcake Sweet Potato Rosti ($18), Chilli Crab Pasta ($18), Salmon Aglio Olio ($18), Mr Frank Toast ($11), Pulled Pork Tacos ($12), Brunch Tacos ($12), Smoked Duck Pancakes ($12), Pancake Wonderland ($16), Creme Brûlée ($8) and Fudge Brownies ($12).
I ordered both the new savoury Smoked Duck Pancakes ($12) and sweet Pancake Wonderland ($16), aesthetically pleasing with strawberries, blueberries, raspberries and granola sprinkled over.
The Smoked Duck Pancakes ($12) came with savoury toppings such as a dollop of sour cream, and smoked duck, drizzled with blueberry jam that added a good balance and some complexity to the dish.
Even though the pancakes were pretty big in size, they were soft, moist and fluffy, with a buttery and fragrant vanilla scent.
The Pancake Wonderland ($16) on the other hand came with three mini pancakes, a scoop of gelato (Sea salt caramel/ Strawberry cheesecake/ Vanilla/ Chocolate), creme anglaise, cream, caramelised banana and cookie crumble.
I liked the three mini pancakes which were pan-fried on the surfaces to give a golden-brown, crispy texture.
Similar to the Smoked Duck Pancakes, there were fluffy with a cake-like texture and a vanilla aroma.
There was a pleasant contrast in textures between the chewy mixed berries and the crunchy granola and cookie crumble.
Fans of 6 Letter Coffee will be thrilled to know that their signature The Three Musketeers ($22) that comes with 3 sourdough toasts individually topped with Smoked Salmon Avocado, Avocado & Egg and Nutty Banana are also available at this outlet.
Using a 2-beans-blend of Colombian and Guatemala for their espresso-based drinks, the usual Double Espresso ($4.50), Affogato ($5.50), Latte/ Flat White/ Cappuccino ($5), and Mocha ($6) can be found here.
Non-dairy milk such as Soy, Oat and Almond are available at an additional $1.
There are also other interesting options such as Charcoal Cafe Latte ($6), Hazelnut Latte ($6), Caramel Latte ($6), Vanilla Latte ($6) and Macadamia Latte ($6).
The Charcoal Cafe Latte (Regular $6, Large $6.50) comes with charcoal powder sprinkled within the espresso layer, adding hints of black to the latte art, yet without interfering with the taste of the coffee.
My cup of Charcoal Cafe Latte has a medium bodied, strong and dark roast with caramel sweetness and taste of cocoa and nuts.
On a side note, you can even request a certain latte art from their barista, who is willing to take up the challenge.
