Tucked in Empress Market, Ah Wing’s Wanton Mee can be spotted from far, thanks to the long queue. The long queue is due to the fact that every wanton mee is made plate by plate. Operated by a dynamic duo, aunty works swiftly cooking plates by plates, while uncle is diligently taking orders from the customers. Indeed, it is a fascinating sight to see two elderlies working so quickly.

Famous for their Hong Kong-style wanton noodles, every plate comes with springy wanton noodles generously soaked in a medley of sauces. It is topped off with some well-charred char siew. Thickly sliced, the ombre of the char siew from dark to light colour signifies that is cooked to perfection. On the sides, you will find some plump and juicy dumplings. Once you have taken a bite, it guarantees a burst of flavours.

To tie the flavoursome meal together, it comes with a side of homemade chilli and jalapenos. The homemade chilli has is flavourful, but not as spicy as some may like. Thankfully, you will get an additional hint of spiciness from jalapenos. The generous portion is only priced at $3.50 per plate. Wash it all down with a bowl of dumpling soup! After all, we can never get enough of dumplings!
