Famous L.A. Pizza Chain Opens In Singapore With Café Concept
The 800° concept is first founded by award-winning American chef Anthony Carron. To expand the brand, he partnered with NBA champions Dwyane Wade and Udonis Haslem of Miami Heat (Know them?).
The Singapore outpost also houses the first 800° cafe in the world – pleasing not just Neapolitan-style pizza lovers but even coffeeholics.
All the pizzas here are made to order, making dough from scratch, using quality ingredients from fresh produce to artisan-quality meats and cheese and only extra virgin olive oil.
And prices start from $10 NETT for the entire pizza. Pretty affordable.
The vegetarian friendly Tartufo ($17 for 10”, $25 for 14”) is perfect for those who love a strong flavoured pizza. The truffle oil and roasted garlic combination is heady enough, while mozzarella and mushrooms further boost its umami flavours.
The overall taste is balanced out with shreds of fresh arugula over its signature bianca base.

Popular Melbourne-Inspired Cafe Reopens
Some of you may be wondering what happened to Five Oars Coffee Roasters, which has moved out of its 39 Tanjong Pagar Road unit earlier in the year.
The Melbourne-inspired cafe has moved to 6 Upper East Coast, closer to the Siglap side.
One thing that never changed is incorporation of plants and them being Instagram-worthy and charming in a different vibe, with multiple #OOTD spots.
Their Melbourne-inspired menu remains more or less unchanged, with a few additions to the old favourites.
Egg-centric brunch offerings can be found here: poached eggs in Avocado Toast ($18), Corn Fritters ($18), Sriracha Chicken Benedict ($18), Pork Benedict ($19) and Bacon & Hash ($21); Baked Eggs ($20); scrambled eggs in Crab Scramble ($23) and Salmon Royale ($23) and sunny side-up for Hanging Tender Steak ($25).
If you are looking for something different from their previous menu, keep a lookout for Mushroom Scramble ($16) and Hanging Tender Steak ($25).

Brunch Cafe At Potong Pasir With Crispy Fish Eggs Ben
The Fuel family has a new member – Fuel X which has opened at the Potong Pasir area of Singapore.
The entire 50 seater-space has a Japanese MUJI-inspired style, being minimalist, simple, and neat.
Neutral colours and the use of natural materials such as wood, cotton and linen help exude a rather zen vibe.
The outlet-exclusive Toasties menu includes Salmon Brie ($16), Cuban ($16), Mushroom Truffle ($16), Chicken Jalapeño ($16) and Banana Peanut Butter ($16).
Sandwiched between two slices of brioche toast, the Salmon Brie Toasties ($16) came with smoked salmon, brie cheese, avocado, cucumber dressing, arugula and tortilla chips with salsa served on the side.
With 10 brunch items on the menu (which can be a little overwhelming), the X-Ben ($16) stood out among the other 2 Egg Benedict: Pulled Pork Ben ($16) and Cauli-Eggs Ben ($16).
The X-Ben ($16) has quite an interesting combination of ingredients with crispy fish nuggets, slaw, homemade tartar, salsa, tobiko and a single poached egg served on brioche toast. Fuel X (Potong Pasir)

Pink Floral & Safari Theme Cafe With Bandung Soufflé Pancakes
A Beautiful Day is the newest cafe and bar opened at Changi City Point. Opened by the folks behind OSG at Suntec City, the 80 seater-space indoors is divided into 3 sections.
This includes a floral “Pink Sugar” corner for the #OOTD shot, a Safari theme dining area, and a warm and cosy ‘living room’.
In addition, there are also Pink Sugar exclusive dishes such as the Red Velvet Latte (Hot $7, Iced $8) and the Pink Sugar Bandung Soufflé Pancakes ($15.90).
My attention was immediately drawn to Pink Sugar exclusive dishes: Red Velvet Latte (Hot $7, Iced $8) and the Pink Sugar Bandung Soufflé Pancakes ($15.90).
Each Soufflé Pancakes will take about 20 minutes to prepare, with strawberries, rose buds, rose cream, icing sugar used for the Pink Sugar Bandung Soufflé Pancakes ($15.90).
To fit into the Pink Sugar theme, the soufflé pancakes was served on a gorgeous pink plate before placing it on a pink mirror tray with a rose pink fork on its side.

Siglap Cafe With “Eggless Egg Toast” And Refreshing Strawberry Ade
This café at Siglap is named after chanterelle mushrooms.
The space was quite inviting with many types of seats available. It was like entering a house due to its set-up (comfy chairs and low seats) and space between tables.
The menu is focused on mainly drinks for now. Other than the usual coffee, there are the more interesting offerings such as Strawberry Foam Milk ($6.50), Taro Foam Milk ($5.50), Royal Milk Tea ($5.50), Nutella Hot Chocolate ($6.00), and Strawberry Ade ($6.90).
While there are croissants and chocolate almond croissants sourced from a supplier, the main in-house food item available is an intriguing-sounding Eggless Egg Toast ($17.90).
If you are feeling slightly puzzled, the ‘egg’ is made of type of ‘superfood’ made up of ingredients such as chia seeds, turmeric, and shiitake mushrooms. Chanterelle Café (Siglap)

Minimalist White & Gold Brunch Cafe With French Toast And Pasta
Gentle Roast is a brand-new minimalist-decor brunch and coffee place at the café hotspot of Upper Thomson.
With gold neon lights, gold furniture frames and gold bespoke lightings hanging from the ceiling, the entire space seems like a hot spot for taking that perfect Instagram café shot.
Among the brunch items such as Egg Benedict ($18), Big Plate ($19), Crab Cake Rosti ($22), Wrap Bread ($16), Burnt Toast ($18) and Sourdough ($20), the Crab Cake Rosti ($22) stood out to me. However, it was unfortunately unavailable at the time of visit.
I ended up ordering a plate of Burnt Toast ($18) which came topped with avocado. If you thinking this is going to be the usual Avo-Toast, this is actually a sweet item.
Their Pasta selection looked more interesting, with a good mix of Seafood Aglio Olio ($17), Spicy Sally – mentaiko salmon ($19), Shroomy Truffle Carbonara ($20), Chilli Crabby ($16), Chicken Pomodoro ($18) and Ducky Indon ($18). Gentle Roast (Upper Thomson)

Kyoto-Inspired French Toast And Sandwich Cafe Opened by Teppei Group
The Japanese-themed cafe with “four seasons booth” is found at King Albert Park (KAP) Mall.
Walk through the “Tori gates” along the stairway to the 2nd floor and you will be greeted with a more spacious area that can accommodate another 40 pax.
Here, 4 “private” dining booths with drawing curtains can be found, partitioned into the four seasons: Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter.
Each “private” dining space is decorated according to the season, with Sakura blossoms in the spring section and snow field in the winter compartment.
On the menu, there is a selection of Japanese Sandwiches ($10.80 – $33.20), French Toast ($18.20), Kyoto Hot Sandwich ($15.20 – $17.20), Coffee ($5 – $8.20), Tea ($6.20- $9.20), Tea Set ($10.20 – $11.20) and Shakes ($7.80).
My favourite was the Matcha Pudding Kyoto Hot Sandwich ($16.20) from the Hot Sandwich menu which includes other variations such as Pudding ($15.20), Mochi Ice Cream ($17.20), Matcha Ice Cream ($15.20) and Yaki Imo aka Roasted Sweet Potato ($17.20).
All the Hot Sandwiches are made using 2 slices of toasted bread with red beans from Kyoto and a slice of butter sandwiched in between the layers. MoMiJi (Bukit Timah)

Muslim-Owned Pink Moroccan-Style Cafe At East Coast
La Fez is a Muslim-owned (pending Halal certification) Moroccan-style cafe that opened 2 doors away from Kota88 Restaurant at East Coast Road.
Inside, the entire 70-seater space is painted in rose pink and gold, equipped with rattan chairs, and exudes a Mediterranean charm with a unique dining experience.
Two different menus are available, namely an all-day brunch starting from 8am and Lunch & Dinner from 11am onwards, with the incorporation of Arabic spices and ingredients in most of their dishes.
For their all-day brunch menu, signature dishes include the Majorelle Shakshuka with Feta Cheese ($19.90), Ziz Latkes Potato Pancakes ($12.90), Maghreb Baghrir Pancakes ($15.90), La Sultana Pandan Pancakes ($16.90) and Kasbah Brioche French Toast ($18.90).
The Majorelle Shakshuka with Feta Cheese ($19.90) was my favourite, served in a traditional earthenware and two slices of baguette.
Coming with spiced tomato, poached eggs, mushroom, onions and pepper sauce, the Shakshuka was tangy and savoury, with the right amount of creaminess due to the poached eggs.

Minimalist French-Style Patisserie Cafe At Jalan Besar
This minimalist greyish-white cake café LA VIE has opened at Jalan Besar, right next to the another relatively new Chuan Seng Claypot Kway Chap.
One of the reasons for adopting this French name is because the Head Pastry Chef and founder was trained in the famed Le Cordon Bleu academy specialised in French pastry. Chef also formerly worked at the now-defunct local French patisserie Antoinette.
Some of the signature dessert items include Chloe ($8.50) – a lychee rose entremet, Kaiser ($9) – a mango and passionfruit entremes, Alfie ($9) – a chocolate banana entremet, and Trio Chocolate Cake ($10) – the other one without the fancy name.
The lychee rose entremet named Chloe ($8.50) was made with light lychee mousse, rose genoise sponge, lychee flesh, and lychee bursting boba.
This time I enjoyed the top of the cake – the ‘boba’ pearls which had light touches of citrus within. La Vie (Jalan Besar)

Japanese-Inspired Brunch Cafe At Katong
This Katong café has packed in the crowd, as it is opened by the same group behind Atlas Coffeehouse at Bukit Timah, Lunar Coffee Brewers at Downtown Gallery, Columbus Coffee Co. at Upper Thomson and Apollo Coffee Bar at Serangoon Garden.
Neptune is the latest brainchild, taking over the defunct Firebake at 237 East Coast Road.
Focusing on Japanese-inspired dishes in this outlet, 3 different menus are available starting from 9am and 11am for their morning and afternoon menus respectively.
Dinner menu will start at 5pm focusing on Pasta ($19.20 – $24), Seafood Somen ($22.90), Steak ($32.90) and Pork Nikomi & Fried Rice ($25.90).
The recommended favourite Big in Japan ($16.90) came with grana panado scone with three different condiments served on its side: yuzu jam, honey mascarpone and cold shrimp & salmon in dill sauce.
The cold shrimp & salmon in dill sauce was well balanced, flavourful with a refreshing and addictive kick, enhancing the savour and nutty flavour of the grana padano cheese infused within the scones. Neptune (East Coast Road)

Aussie Brunch Cafe With Towering Wagyu Beef Burger And Baby Back Ribs
Not a new name in Singapore, but not many may know that there is an outlet of The House of Robert Timms Singapore at Suntec City East Atrium (Tower 3), which has recently revamped with a brand-new menu.
New dishes include a range from Baby Back Ribs ($15.50), Potato-crumbed Wings ($13.50), Prawn Bisque with Truffle Infusion ($15.00), Mushroom, Haloumi & Egg ($19.00), Parma Ham, Arugula & Mozzarella Pizza ($19.50), Herb-marinated Roasted Chicken ($24.00), Pan-seared Barramundi ($28.00), to dessert of Vanilla Panna Cotta ($15.00).
For starters, they offer Lite Bites – small plates with big flavours, such as the Baby Back Ribs.
No, you’re not getting an entire slab, but a trio of sticky saucy pork ribs served atop crunchy straight-cut fries.
What I liked was that there was a light crispy batter on the outer layer, covered with cayenne hot sauce for a fierce jolt to your taste buds.
Dunk them in the double mustard sauerkraut to balance out the spiciness. One of my favourite new dishes from the menu. The House of Robert Timms (Suntec City)
