Clarke Quay lunch sets

Lunchtime is arguably the best part of the day, providing a window of escape from the work day. If you and your work buddies are looking for a new lunch spot, Clarke Quay has a plethora of eating places that are open for lunch. In line with Clarke Quay’s The Quay To Lunch campaign, here are 10 lunch sets under $20 to choose from, including ribeye steak and bulgogi bagels.

1. Tsui Wah

tsui wah clarke quay lunch sets

Tsui Wah is an iconic cha chaan teng from Hong Kong that first made waves when it arrived on our shores in 2018. Priced at $25++ are their Weekday Set Lunch for 2 people, which comprise two mains, two beverages, and a side dish—working out to be less than $20 per person.

There are six mains available to choose from, including Tsui Wah’s signature Kagoshima-Style Braised Pork Cartilage With Tossed Instant Noodles. This dish sees QQ instant noodles tossed in a flavourful braised sauce, alongside melt-in-the-mouth pork cartilage. We also tried their Assorted Vegetables And Egg Curry With Steamed Rice, which comes with a spicy, moreish vegetable curry, topped with an oozy sunny-side-up.

There’s a trio of sides for your picking, with the likes of Deep-Fried Chicken Wings, Deep-Fried Wantons, and Homemade Fish Soup With Radish. I enjoyed the chicken wings most, as they were well-seasoned, with hints of white pepper.

Round off your meal with their selection of hot beverages, served in Tsui Wah’s iconic teacups. If you’d like something iced to beat the heat, top up $1.50++ for Hong Kong-style bottled Milk Tea, Signature Coffee or Yuen Yeung.

2. Hanjip Korean Grill House

Hanjip Korean Grill House is one of the newest additions to Clarke Quay, bringing KBBQ to this lifestyle district. They’ve recently begun opening for lunch, with an array of rice, noodle, and soup dishes available, all priced from $15++. Each main dish comes with a refreshing barley tea, and banchan platter.

Their Cold Noodle ($16++) was one of our favourites, with chewy buckwheat noodles steeped in an ice-cold broth. For seafood-loving readers, the Spicy Stir Fried Octopus ($16++) might tickle your fancy, with succulent octopus pieces cooked in a gochujang-based sauce.

Hanjip’s lunch menu sees a selection of specials as well, including this Bibimbap Rice Burger ($16++) that’s layered with veggies, tofu, omelette, and pan-fried rice buns. I really loved all the textures in this dish—you get the crunch of vegetables, fluffiness of the egg, and crispiness of charred rice, all in one bite.

There’s also the Bulgogi Bagel ($16++), where you can opt for beef or pork as your protein of choice. I enjoyed the addition of kimchi and spicy mayo here, as they brought some tanginess and heat to the dish.

Hanjip also gives you incentive to head down with your family on a weekend, as one kid dines free with every two paying adults!

3. Holey Moley Golf Club

Spruce up your lunchtime with Holey Moley Golf Club, a mini golf course and bar. Priced at $18++ are their lunch specials, which are an absolute steal, considering that you get a main, a drink, and nine holes of mini golf thrown into the mix.

Despite the affordable price tag, Holey Moley Golf Club doesn’t skimp on the portions. You can opt between a burger or hot dog for your main, all of which are massive serves. We had The Big Dog, which sees a cheese chicken wiener dressed with slow-braised pulled pork, turkey bacon, slaw, and BBQ sauce. There’s also The Hole in One—the bar’s signature burger, which features a juicy beef patty that’s topped with more beef brisket.

Beverage-wise, you can choose between beer, wine, or a soft drink, of which the alcoholic options don’t require a top-up!

You can’t say you’ve been to Holey Moley Golf Club without a game of mini golf. There are nine stations in this lunch special, thoughtfully designed with IG-worthy props and neon decals. It’s a definite bonus to the food, as you sneak some fun into your lunchtime.

4. Zorba The Greek Taverna

zorba the greek taverna clarke quay lunch sets

I’m no expert at Greek food, but Zorba The Greek Taverna definitely piqued my interest. Their two-course lunch sets run from Tuesdays to Fridays, between 12pm to 5:30pm. For $18.50++, you get a main dish, alongside your choice of soup or dessert of the day.

There are three mains to choose from, and I genuinely enjoyed them all. The Zorba Salad Bowl was bright and refreshing, with avocados tossed within for a creamy finish. There’s also the Greek Chicken Rice Bowl, served with fluffy grains, flavourful chicken, and a tangy yoghurt sauce to tie everything together.

If not, opt for the Moussaka, a potato-based dish that reminded me of shepherd’s pie. I enjoyed the layers of creamy potato and savoury-sweet minced meat in this dish.

Our dessert of the day was their Baklava, which sported a nutty aroma from pistachios, lightly sweetened with syrup. If desserts are not your thing, you can opt for soup, of which we tried an appetising spicy tomato soup at the start of our meal.

If you’re here with your family over the weekend, you’d be keen to know that one kid dines free with every two paying adults. There are kid-friendly dishes to choose from, including Loaded Mac & Cheese and Pancake With Ice Cream. Do note that this is only available from 9am to 3pm, for kids aged six and below.
