Yu Ba Fang at Raffles City Shopping Centre

If you’ve missed chowing down on BaFang YunJi dumplings while walking along the night markets of Taiwan, Yu Ba Fang‘s opening at Raffles City Shopping Centre should make you very happy. While unassociated with BaFang YunJi, Yu Ba Fang serves what looks like the exact same dumplings, so you can reminisce the good ol’ weekend trippin’ days.

Although the Yu Ba Fang brand hails from China, their Taiwanese-style offerings are, as they claim, the “best tastes of Taiwan”. Here, the concise menu of 18 items features their signature Pan-Fried Dumplings, aka guo tie, boiled dumplings or shui jiao, rice, noodles, soup, and soya milk. Do note, however, that some of these items are currently still unavailable, as operations have only just begun.

The dumplings at Yu Ba Fang are all made by hand to weigh precisely 28g each, with assorted fillings such as Hualien Ji’an Fragrant Chives, Golden Sweet Corn Chicken, and JeJu Island Korean Spicy Flavour. Keep your eyes peeled for the upcoming Hokkaido Fresh Prawn flavour!

Whether you go for the pan-fried or boiled variety, each serving of eight dumplings is priced at $10.90, including the Double Mix Combination of two guo tie flavours.

Also available is the YBF Special Minced Pork Rice ($7.90), or 肉燥饭 (ròu zào fàn). You may be more familiar with lu rou fan, but this rendition is a simplified version made with minced pork, instead of pork belly strips. There’ll soon be a noodle option for this, too.

On the side, order a serving of Alisan Tea Eggs ($1.50), Hot & Sour Soup ($2.50), or Gourmet Grounded Soymilk ($2.50). Make your dumplings a meal combo with a $1 top-up, which gets you an egg and a drink or soup!
