If you didn’t already know, Joy Luck Teahouse specialises in three of Hong Kong’s most iconic foods—egg tart, bolo bun, and milk tea. What makes them so special is that their recipes come from renowned HK brands such as Hoover Cake Shop and Kam Kee Cafe.

On the other hand, Bedok Bak Chor Mee is famed for its bak chor mee in soup ($5.50/$7.50). The signature broth is said to be packed with rich, umami flavours, as it is simmered for over 24 hours using premium pork bones air-flown from Australia.

Soup aside, Bedok Bak Chor Mee also offers a dry-style bak chor mee ($5.50/$7.50). This features a bowl of noodles tossed in a dark sauce, and topped with minced meat. If you like spicy, add their house-made chilli sauce for an extra kick.

To cool down from the spice, go for any of the fun and refreshing drinks in Joy Luck’s Pearl of Joy series. Priced at $3.80, consider the Lychee Fizz or the Honey Lemon Fizz for something fruity. Alternatively, cleanse your palate with the Sour Plum Fizz. Upgrade your drink with their unique Lychee Popping and Seaweed Jelly Pearls for just an additional $1

For something more traditional and authentic, go for the Pearl of Orient ($4.80)—a classic Hong Kong-style milk tea. Made with famous cha chaan teng Kam Kee’s secret recipe, a sip of this bubble tea is said to transport you to the streets of Hong Kong!
