Popular Hong Kong style cha cha teng Tsui Wah 翠華 has opened at Jewel Changi Airport, its first foray to the East of Singapore.

If you miss that taste of Hong Kong, other Tsui Wah outlets include Clarke Quay, Orchard Heeren (temporary closed), and Jem.

The 3,240 square feet restaurant located at the 3rd level of the mall has a maximum seating capacity of 123 seats for indoor dine-in (capped at 88 seats for now due to social distancing).

Some of the signature dishes over in the Singapore outlet include Beef Brisket Curry with Prata ($17), Chicken Wings in Supreme Sauce ($10.50), Wontons with Shrimp Roe in Fish Soup ($9.50), Kagoshima-Style Braised Pork Cartilage with Tossed Instant Noodles ($10.50), Crispy Bun with Condense Milk ($4), and Tsui Wah Signature Pork Chop Bun ($8.50).

It is a pity that some of Hong Kong’s signature dishes such as the Fish Paste Puffs in Fish Soup with Mixian, is not available here.

You can go for the Kagoshima-Style Braised Pork Cartilage with Tossed Instant Noodles ($10.50), which is a homage dish to a Japanese chef who shared this recipe with Tsui Wah.

Stewed for many hours daily, the pork cartilage is tender, chewy and gelatinous, with savoury aroma.

The chunks of pork are served over Hong Kong’s famed instant noodles, coated in a luscious gravy.

Another signature dish is the King Prawns in XO Sauce with Tossed Noodles ($13)

A potentially delicious dish, but lacking both in sauces and ”har zi” (prawn roe) as you can see the noodles was quite minimally peppered with it. Thus slightly on the dry side.

The prawns were plump and fresh though.

What you can look out for is the Weekday Set Lunch for 2 pax at $28. This is available on weekdays from 11am to 2.30pm (except on public holidays), and the set comprises 2 mains, 1 side dish and 2 beverages.

Choose from signature mains such as Kagoshima-style Braised Pork Cartilage in Fish Soup with Noodles, Wontons with Shrimp Roe in Fish Soup with Noodles, or the new side dish of Radish with Mala Fish Soup – a fiery bowl of mala fish broth laden with enoki mushrooms and stewed radish.

There is also the Signature Afternoon Tea Set for 2 pax from $16.80.

Available on weekday afternoons from 2:30pm to 5:30pm (except on public holidays), the two sets are priced respectively at $16.80 and $19.80, and comprise a variety of classic, and all-time favourite items in smaller portions.

A Afternoon Tea set ($19.80) can include King Prawn in Mala Soup with Mixian, Kagoshima-Style Braised Pork Cartilage with Tossed Instant Noodles, Deep Fried Wanton, Spam Fries, Brownie with Vanilla Ice Cream, and choice of 2 hot drinks. Pretty good deal.

The $16.80 set (Set B) has Jumbo Hot Dog Bun, Buttered Steam Corn, Deep Fried Wanton, Spam Fries, Brownie with Vanilla Ice Cream, and 2 hot drinks.
