JEN Singapore Tanglin by Shangri-La has a halal Christmas buffet

‘Tis the season to be jolly, and JEN Singapore Tanglin by Shangri-La has just the buffet for you to celebrate the yuletide cheer with your family and friends. Head to J65, the hotel’s restaurant, for one of the best and most inclusive Christmas buffets in town.

Not only is J65’s buffet halal-certified, but they also won the Best Buffet award in the Halal Awards 2022! They’re definitely not resting on their laurels this festive season, presenting a buffet spread with more than 50 items on offer.

Christmas just ain’t right without turkey━this year, J65’s rendition is a Nyonya Style Roasted Boneless Turkey, perfectly deboned so there’s no fuss at all about tackling finicky bones. 

The turkey is thoroughly marinated so it’s tasty throughout. Dress your slices with the piquant, Nyonya-style gravy on the side. Aromatic with herbs including lemongrass, galangal, and turmeric leaves, you might even find yourself having this with the other dishes in the line-up!

Other meats on the carving station include fall-apart Braised Black Angus Beef and Baked Norwegian Salmon with Tomato Basil Coulis

Have these alongside a moreish, super indulgent Mashed Potato Infused with Truffle Oil, or Braised Brussels Sprouts with Turkey Bacon

The mashed potato is so smooth and aromatic, with a layer of caramelised, golden crust atop— you’ll be hard-pressed to stop at one serving. 

Another meat option you could enjoy with the mashed potatoes is Oxtail Stew with Gremolata, slow-cooked till the tendons are rendered gelatinous, and the meat cuts through with barely a nudge of your knife. 

Don’t forget the bone marrow—it’s the tastiest bit! 

More decadence comes in the form of Seafood Thermidor, laden with pan-seared salmon, prawns, and mussels in a creamy, comforting base. 

It’s then topped generously with cheese, and popped into the oven so you also get that lovely browned cheese crust.

J65 knows, as well as we do, that everyone loves a good seafood on ice selection at a buffet, and they’ve nailed it with a full bounty of Boston lobsters, prawns, and mussels that are fresh as can be.

If you’re up for it, they’ve also got assorted nigiri sushi and maki rolls, as well as everyone’s favourite salmon sashimi. It’s Christmas, so there’s no better time to feast!

There’s so much more to be enjoyed at the buffet, but you for sure cannot leave without trying J65’s signature Durian Pengat, made with real D13 durian puree. Don’t say we didn’t tell you, this was our single favourite item of the meal! 

Kids will love the Chocolate Fountain with Fruits & Marshmallow, as well as ice cream, Christmas Apple Pie and other goodies.

And if you’ve never had Christmas Stollen or Christmas Fruit Cake, here’s your chance at the J65 Christmas buffet! Stollen is a traditional German Christmas bread, studded with nuts, spices, dried or candied fruit, and then dusted with icing sugar. It’s perfect to end your meal with, alongside a cuppa hot tea, or Hot Chocolate for both kids and the young at heart.

J65’s Festive Dinner Buffet runs every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday until 30 December 2023, from 6pm to 9:30pm. It’s priced at $88++ for adults, and $44++ for children aged between six and 11 years old.
