What exactly is a Kaya Ball? Similar to a pancake, a kaya ball is made with a similar batter shaped into a ball and filled with kaya! If you’re looking for a snack that is not too sweet, these kaya balls are what you’re looking for! At Crispy Pancake, their Kaya Balls ($3.50/ 8 pieces) are often made fresh upon order and served warm. With the kaya balls being served warm, the kaya jam turns into a gooey texture.

Each ball is evenly filled with kaya so you will be able to taste both the batter and kaya jam at every part. Once it pops into your mouth, the kaya melts even more with each bite you take! These Kaya Balls are also chewy and have a fluffy texture! It tastes similar to a pancake however, it is definitely more on the thicker side as compared to usual pancakes.

This was a delightful snack as the two main ingredients in this snack did not overpower one another. Both of the ingredients – kaya and batter, were not too sweet! The kaya jam also did not give off a sweet artificial kaya taste but instead had a strong coconut flavour mixed with the right amount of sweetness!

However, if you’re not a big fan of Kaya, they also have other flavours such as Cheese, Durian and even Nutella! These flavours are usually not prepared beforehand hence there will be a longer waiting time in the event you’d like to give the other flavours a taste instead!
