Natter Coffee & Gelato has ice cream and waffles in Tanjong Pagar
Just a stone’s throw away from Apiary Cafe, Roji Monster, and COTTA is a relatively new gelato shop called Natter Coffee & Gelato. Located near Tanjong Pagar MRT Station, the ice cream cafe has garnered a decent following, thanks to their interesting, artisanal flavours.
The cafe also opens till midnight from Friday to Sunday, making it a great spot for those craving something sweet after their K-BBQ.
Natter is fronted by a clean, white storefront, and is decked out in an equally minimalist interior complete with “cotton clouds” dangling from the ceiling, and accompanied by vibey Y2K tunes playing in the background.
The gelato flavours are said to be inspired by the owners’ personal travels around the world. During our visit, the available flavours were Pistachio, Goma, Cookies and Cream, Sea Salt Vanilla, Belgian Chocolate, Uji Hojicha, and Earl Grey Lavender.
Another popular and unique flavour is Korean Sikhye AKA Korean rice punch, which we did not get to try as it was unavailable that day.
A single scoop will cost you $5, or you can get a double scoop for $9. Premium flavours come with an extra charge of $1, and you can have your gelato with waffles (from $5) or on a cone ($1).
We had the Goma, which was rich and strong-flavoured, though a little artificial tasting. Nonetheless, the gelato texture was smooth and the creamy dessert dissolved in the mouth within seconds.
The Sea Salt Vanilla, another top-selling flavour, is suitable for those looking for something light on the palate.
We enjoyed our gelato with the Hojicha Waffle ($6), which had a subtle roasted green tea flavour. The waffle also had a good bite and was delightfully crispy on the outside.
Natter also offers specialty roasts by Homeground Coffee Roasters. An Espresso costs $4, while a cup of Black coffee will set you back $5. If you want something more unique, try the Dirty Matcha ($7.50) for a full-bodied and nutty caffeine kick.
