Sweet Rex at Maxwell Food Centre has cheap souffle pancakes
Just when we thought the souffle pancake trend has come and gone, it looks like the hype is staying for a little while longer. Popular cafe Sweet Rex has opened a stall in Maxwell Food Centre, right across from the new Maxwell MRT Station. Do note that their International Plaza outlet is currently closed.
The local brand quietly launched their Maxwell stall in end-November 2022 on their IG page. Here, fans can look forward to their signature souffle pancakes, in three flavours: Classic ($8.80), Chocolate ($9.80), and Caramel ($9.80).

Each set gets you two thick and fluffy pancakes and a scoop of ice cream. The caramel set, for instance, comes with a drizzle of caramel sauce and Biscoff crumbs for added crunch.
Those who prefer savoury can also try Sweet Rex’s Wazza AKA waffle pizza. There’s the Margherita Wazza ($10.90), featuring a freshly baked waffle topped with tomato, cheese, and basil seasoning. Alternatively, go for the locally inspired Beef Satay ($12.90) flavour if you’re up to trying something new.

There’s not much information about their full menu, but it seems like you can find their popular layered cheesecakes on offer, too.
If you’re looking for something more substantial in the same food centre, check out our Ye Lai Xiang Tasty Barbecue review for XXL Western fare below $10. The highly raved stall sells Hainanese-style Western food such as Chicken Chop ($8.50) and Pork Cutlet ($9) in massive portions.
