If you’re craving traditional Hong Kong dishes, look no further than So Good Char Chan Tang, a casual cafe dishing out affordable set meals below $6. While the restaurant has two other outlets at Midview City and Capitol Piazza, they also have another branch at 111 Somerset, which is just a two-minute walk from Somerset MRT Station.

Go straight for the BBQ Meat Value Set ($6) and take your pick from roasted duck, char siew, soy sauce chicken, or steamed chicken. You can opt to have your noodles served soup or dry, or even switch them out for rice or hor fun, if you prefer. Each set comes with your choice of drink: Chinese Tea, Coffee, Milk Tea, Luo Hanguo Tea, Barley Water, or Soy Milk.

If you can’t decide what to get, we recommend the roasted duck, which is said to be juicy with a slight crisp on the skin. The char siew is another worthy contender. It’s often described by satisfied customers as tender with a salty-sweet flavour.
