This tail-end stretch of River Valley Road has been flourishing with cafés including Pantler, Little Farms Café, LR Boulangerie, Culture Spoon, Grace Espresso, many well-supported by the expat community in the area.
In this row of shophouses lined with boutique gyms and yoga studio, a second PRAIRIE outlet by the folks behind Craftsmen Specialty Coffee has opened.
That’s fast.
Some friends have described the first PRAIRIE as the café behind the bamboo forest at Bukit Timah.
However, that outlet initially faced issues with slow service (I once waited for close to 45 minutes for a cup of coffee), but think they have improved after that).
The word “Prairie” refers to a type of habitat mostly occupied by grasses and flowering plants with occasional shrubs and trees.
While the Bukit Timah PRAIRIE has an outdoor seating area with natural daylight and more greenery feature, the River Valley branch is done with a contemporary look decorated in various shades of dusty-pink.
Note that during the soft opening phase, the café will serve only a limited menu of pastries, cakes and drinks.
In the second phase (27 April – 3 May), they will start serving an all-day brunch menu; and third phase (4 May onwards) there will be full menu including lunch & dinner salads, pasta, mains, burgers. (Do check with their social media accounts for updates.)
A whole new menu is created exclusively for this outlet, which includes all-day brunches as well as lunch & dinner menu with salads, mains, pasta, burgers, and sides.
Signature items include Beef Breakfast ($18), Salmon Bruschetta ($19) with in-house beetroot cured salmon, Burrata Salad ($21), Spicy Italian Fettucini ($23), and White Bolognese Penne ($26).
Currently, there are only freshly baked pastries of Butter Croissant ($4), Pain Au Chocolate ($5.50), Kaya Croissant ($6), Almond Croissant ($6), Chocolate Almond Croissant ($6), and some cakes. You may want to take note before heading down.
