Prepare yourself for a tongue-twister一She Sells Seashells, Singapore’s first creative madeleines and financiers speciality shop, is opening their first physical store at HillV2. Located about five minutes on foot from Hillview MRT Station, this brand-new outlet is slated to open in December, serving up more of their fancy French bakes!
For those of us who don’t know what madeleines are, this dainty pastry is one of the most beloved desserts in France. They are small, domed sponge cakes that sport distinctive ridges resembling that of sea shells━another inspiration behind the name She Sells Seashells. Her madeleines were what propelled founder Rachel to home-based business fame, but she’s also known for her financiers: petite rectangular sweets that resemble bars of gold.
Previously an online-only store, you can now purchase these French nibbles in-store when She Sells Seashells opens this December. You’ll be able to choose from their classic flavours, along with their Best-seller Box ($19.50), which comprises both madeleines and financiers.

The original genesis of She Sells Seashells’s madeleines is their Signature Matcha & Yuzu Madeleine ($5.20). Flaked with matcha powder and infused with sweet yuzu peels, they are a popular pick for die-hard customers of She Sells Seashells. You can even choose for your madeleines to be glazed with fragrant Suntory’s Roku Gin for a tinge of booze at tea!

The French Earl Grey and Salted Caramel Madeleine ($5.20) are a novel creation fusing TWG’s Earl Grey tea and house-made salted caramel for aromatic notes of citrus and bergamot in every bite of this delicate snack.
Humble Bakery To Open In One Raffles Place With Fresh Scones And Coffee

If you are looking for something else besides their famous madeleines, consider another hot favourite: their Pickled Cherry Blossom Financier ($4.50), decorated with a beautiful pickled sakura flower and scented with aromatic cherry blossoms.

If you have a sweet tooth, there’s no excuse to miss out on their Masala Chai & Valrhona Chocolate Financier ($4.80). Filled with luxurious Valrhona dark chocolate, this small cake is mixed with chai spices for a perfect balance of sweetness and spice, with dried figs for depth of flavour.
