So, I took the opportunity to try out the 4 “all-time favourite dishes” at Paradise Classic – promo available at Jewel Changi Airport and Resorts World Sentosa.
The restaurant concept specialises in Nanyang-style cuisine and Chinese classics such as wok-fried dishes and heart-warming soups that evokes nostalgia.
Paradise Classic’s usual signature dishes include the popular Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon – a seafood pot with Chinese, Thai and Indonesian flavours, Crisp-fried Fish Skin with Salted Egg Yolk, Chilled Jellyfish in Garlic Soy Vinaigrette, Stewed Silver Needle Noodle with Salted Fish in Claypot, Supreme Seafood Fried Rice and Signature Roasted Chicken.

Hot Plate Tofu with Preserved ‘Cai Xin’ and Minced Pork ($7.90, U.P $15.80)
The recommended to-order dish, especially if you like the smooth-silkiness of homemade tofu.
The tofu is first deep-fried such that it is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.
The piece is topped with wok-fried preserved ‘cai xin’ and minced pork sauce, then served on a sizzling hot plate with egg. Loved the ‘cai xin’ component and slight gooey sauce which added that appetising slight-salty flavour.
Crisp-fried Homemade Teochew Style Prawn Roll ($5.40, U.P $10.80)
These Hei Zho are done Teochew-style, packed with minced pork wrapped with beancurd skin.
What’s extra special was that the prawn rolls were further dipped into a batter before deep-frying, rendering an added crunchy layer. Best dipped into the sweet sauce.
Crisp-fried Shrimp Paste Chicken ($7.90, U.P $15.80)
These mid-joint wings are marinated in fermented shrimp paste (you get just a lingering of the ‘aroma’) then deep-fried.
Though I wished they were plumper, the inside was still bursting with tasty juices.
Mango Sago ($3.15, U.P $6.30)
Refreshing Yang Zhi Gan Lu of chilled mango with pomelo and sago dessert. Not too sweet.
