For fans of Old Chang Kee’s curry puffs, we have some good news for you! The Salted Egg Yam’O Puff is returning from now till Sept 21! With the mid-autumn festival coming up, this special mooncake puff makes a glorious return.
Salted Egg Yam’O Puff Returns
The Salted Egg Yam’O Puff ($2.60) is inspired by the crispy layered yam mooncakes, except that it is wrapped in Old Chang Kee’s signature puff crust. The puff which is the same mooncake puff that was released last year, is filled with yam fillings and a salted egg yolk center. The puff has a buttery and crunchy exterior while the inside is filled with creamy yam. One unique feature this year is that the puff is stamped with a ‘福’ on top, symbolizing fortune or blessings of good luck.
Other Locally Inspired Puffs
Old Chang Kee had also released another locally inspired puff in July this year, which was the Chilli Crab Camou Puff. It was in conjunction with SAF Day, which explained the camouflage stripes all over the exterior of the puff to resemble the army uniforms, with the inside stuffed with real chilli crab.
