How many Kuai San Dian Xin are there in Singapore?
8 already, from Ang Mo Kio Ave 10, Bukit Batok East Ave 5, Bedok North Street 2, Woodlands Close, Tampines Ave 8, Kang Ching Road (Lakeside), Hougang Street 22 to the latest outlet at Bukit Merah View.

The new stall is housed in a kopitiam right next to Bukit Merah View Food Centre.
Here’s the reason for its popularity: all the dim sum items are priced at $1.30 (nice ring to it) which is considered very affordable in today’s context; and most outlets are opened for 24/7 for supper hunters.
That makes price sensitive customers and those mathematically-challenged people calculate final cost easily (ie order 10 items and make it $13). There are people who just ‘eat-and-whack’ to feel full.
In terms of Pao, there are 8 choices from Big Pao (1 pc), to Char Siew Pao, Bean Paste Pao, Lotus Paste Pao, Chicken Pao, Vegetable Pao, Custard Pao to Coffee Pao (2 pcs for the rest).
That is 65cent per Pao, cheaper than the average stall out there.
Other dim sum items range from Har Gow, Siew Mai, Spinach Dumpling, Steamed Rice Roll, Steamed Spare Ribs with Black Beans, Seaweed Meat Roll, Spring Roll, Seaweed Chicken to Beancurd Skin Roll.
While I won’t say all the items I had were extraordinary (for example the Custard Pao fillings were clumpy rather than smooth – no flow at all), they were decent items for its price.
The deep-fried items were a hit or miss, some were less than lukewarm, or tasted rather ‘floury’ on its fillings.
Overall better than say, the average food court items that can be more expensive and generic-tasting.
I would recommend going for the Big Pao at $1.30 each, filled with juicy meaty fillings and a slice of hard-boiled egg.
The other popular choice would be the Century Egg Pork Porridge. At least the bowl was warm and comforting, with not to gooey or diluted consistency. It was also very manageable in terms of salt level, a balance to the other greasier items on the menu.
