New JUMBO Seafood ION Orchard afternoon tea
We first reviewed, and loved, JUMBO Seafood ION Orchard’s new afternoon tea set back in 2020. They refreshed the set last year, and have done it yet again—just in time for the relaxed regulations of 2022. This time, the Seafood Canape & Dim Sum Afternoon Tea is priced at $28.80++ per diner, but from now till 31 May 2022, the fourth in your posse dines free with three paying adults!

The $28.80++ price tag is slightly more costly than last year’s rate of $48++ for two, but if you can find three makan kakis to join you for the high tea, it works out to be just $21.60++ each.
It’s not easy to find a high tea set at such a wallet-friendly price, especially one that’s centrally located in the heart of Orchard Road. What’s more, it’s available every day of the week from 2:30pm to 4:45pm!

As before, there are 10 items in the afternoon tea set, with three seafood canapes, and seven pieces of dim sum. Since this is JUMBO Seafood we’re talking about, their famous chilli crab is an undoubted must-have on the menu—this time in the form of Chilli Crab Meat Sauce with Sliced Fried ‘Man Tou’ and Caviar.

Then, there is the zi char favourite: Scallop Wrapped in Yam Ring, albeit in a single serve, topped with a dropper of gravy. If you’ve always griped about there being too much gravy drenching your yam ring, this genius application allows you to add the exact amount you prefer.

On the dim sum front, you’ll get a basket of three steamed bites: Steamed Salted Egg Pine Nuts Cake, Steamed ‘Char Siew’ Dumpling, and Steamed Spinach and Prawn Dumpling. The ‘Char Siew’ Dumpling replaces the bao of your classic char siew bao with a chewy crystal skin.

There’s also a Baked Salted Egg Lava Mochi Pastry that’s said to be a marriage of traditional Chinese-style pastry and liu sha bao, and Chilled Yam Paste with Pumpkin, AKA orh nee with pumpkin. Drinks wise, you’ll also get a choice of Wellness Tea, of which there are two—Rose Oolong, and West Lake Dragon Well—or long jing tea.
