One of the surprising new entrants to the Michelin Bib Gourmand Singapore 2021 list, is Heng Heng Cooked Food at Yuhua Village Market and Food Centre.

The other Bib Gourmand stall at Yuhua Village is Fei Fei Roasted Noodle 肥肥烧腊云吞面.

The stall has apparently been more than 30 years,. While it is more known for Laksa ($3, $3.50, $4), several customers were seen ordering their prawn noodles. (I was about 5th in line, but waited 25 minutes or so as there were several dabao orders.)

Heng Heng’s Laksa comes served with fish cake slices, large triangular pieces of taupok (dried beancurd puff) and cockles.

For $3, you get quite a bit of ingredients, and from appearance alone you can tell the gravy was to the thicker side due to the coconut milk.

To be fair, this bowl was a not-bad decent old-school tasting Laksa, slightly elevated due to chilli paste included with dried shrimp.

However compared to some of the other famous and popular Laksa in Singapore, the gravy did not come across as fragrant or layered with flavours.

The Prawn Noodles ($3) came with slices of prawn, fish cake, kang kang and some fried shallots. There are also mee kia and meepok options.

An above-the-average bowl for its price. The impressionable part was again the chilli sauce with dried shrimps which gave the extra ‘oomph’ when mixed; and the accompanying soup which was appetisingly sweet.
