Yean Heng Pancake has $0.80 min jiang kueh in Pek Kio
If you love old-school min jiang kueh as much as I do, here’s an under-the-radar stall to add to your list: Yean Heng Pancake. Located in Pek Kio Market & Food Centre, this hawker stall is known for their freshly made pancakes that are priced under $1 per slice.

Dive straight into their Traditional Pancake ($0.80), which is said to be unassumingly good. Each min jiang kueh is soft and fluffy with a generous layer of filling within, and fans love the slightly chewy texture of the pancake. There’s also Crispy Pancake ($0.80) if you want something lighter and crispier.
Choose from four classic flavours: Peanut, Coconut, Red Bean, and Lotus Paste. Peanut seems to be the most popular option; you get a good amount of roasted and sweetened peanut grounds that complement the plain pancake batter.

Otherwise, try their Putu Mayam (price TBD), a childhood favourite of mine. This breakfast staple consists of freshly steamed rice noodles paired with coconut sugar and desiccated coconut.

Yean Heng Pancake sits on the first floor of the food centre, which is a nine-minute walk from Farrer Park MRT Station. Do note that the stall tends to sell out early, so make sure you visit in the morning to get your min jiang kueh fix!

Another popular min jiang kueh stall to try is Bu Bu Gao Sheng, which offers unique pancake fillings such as matcha and taro. They also have a classic Crunchy Peanut Butter ($1.40) flavour, a crowd favourite that sees min jiang kueh paired with a fragrant peanut butter middle.
Alternatively, drop by Munchi Pancakes’ latest opening in Lau Pa Sat, where you’ll find halal min jiang kueh with black sesame, Thai milk tea and more!
