Weird food pairings are more common than ever, with the likes of coriander cake and ice cream trending in recent times. If regular beef burgers aren’t interesting enough for you, Fatboy’s latest Durian Burger might just take the cake.

Available across all branches (price TBC)—Thomson, Holland Village, and Northpoint—as well as online at $15.80, the wacky creation was launched in celebration of the local burger joint’s 12th year anniversary, where fans had to suggest their wildest burger ingredient on Fatboy’s IG post.

The 12 chosen winners who had the craziest ideas walked away with $100 dining vouchers each, on top of having their suggested ingredients listed on the burger bar’s Build Your Own Menu.

Inspired by the king of all fruits, the hearty durian-forward number is not for the faint-hearted. Crowning the all-new Durian Burger is a thick slab of deep-fried durian croquette on top of a juicy housemade beef patty. That’s not all—the flavour intensifies with a pungent durian puree, combined with a smear of tart jam to cut through the richness.

Sandwiched between fluffy buttered buns, the hefty burger features Fatboy’s signature beef patty, which is made with a secret blend of freshly grounded beef. You can also complete your meal with a side of salted egg fries ($2.50), spam fries ($2.50), or beef chilli fries ($2.50), if you’re feeling peckish.

Those who prefer something more ‘normal’ can stick with the burger chain’s specialty burgers. The Fat Basterd (from $19.80), which comes with double beef chuck patties, bacon, cheddar, a fried egg, and housemade BBQ sauce, is a best-seller.

Fatboy’s burgers are available for self-collection, dine-in, and delivery via their online ordering system.
