“Dearborn”, a name that rings a bell in the supper club or the private dining world by Chef Christopher Kong, has been transformed to a granola-specialty store in Everton Park.
With years of experience in the culinary world and a stellar record in Michelin starred restaurants Waku Ghin (2 Michelin Stars, Singapore) and The Nomad (1 Michelin Star, NYC), Chef Chris Kong has decided to make the transition and pivoted towards his granola business.
Though the change was drastic, it was decision made due to the implementation of Circuit Breaker in Year 2020 which hits the private dining industry badly when no visitors are allowed in households.
Everton Park near Outram is home to many food shops and cafes such as Ji Xiang Confectionery, Pickle Bakery, Nylon Coffee Roasters, The Better Half and Little Oasis.
Decked in shades of navy green and wooden elements with accentuated by arches and curve edges in the design, the outlet here serves as their production kitchen.
Customers who pre-ordered on their website will be able to make their self-collection here.
Limited items are available on their weekday menu, namely Basic Granola Bowls ($8 – $9) and a small selection of drinks ($6 – $7).
The Granola flavours are on weekly rotational basis, with either Chocolate or Fruit options.
The former comes in Milk Chocolate, Fruit & Oat; Double Chocolate Orange; Dark Chocolate & Macadamia and Dark Chocolate & Banana.
The latter includes Mango, Passionfruit & Coconut; Cranberry Maple Pecan; Berries and Lemon & Pistachio.
2 different toppings are added to the granola: Raglan Coconut Vanilla Bean Yogurt ($9) or Chobani Greek Yogurt.
I had the Berries with Raglan Coconut Vanilla Bean Yogurt ($9), a mix of strawberries, blueberries, cranberries, figs, rolled oats, sunflower seeds and almonds.
Woah, the combination was a robust and earthy mixture with distinctive nutty flavours, well-balanced by the sweetness from the berries.
The yogurt added a splash of citrus-ness, complemented by the fuller body of the coconut cream with a tinge of sweet vanilla.
The over texture was crispy and crunchy with a distinct roasted aroma.
If you like any of the Granola bowls, they are also available for purchase at $16 for 260g or $28 for 500g.
Though the price is on the steep side, I can see why people will enjoy these seemly healthy treats but yet flavourful.
3 drinks are available on their weekday menu, namely Yuzu and Citrus Soda ($7), Cucumber and Lemon Soda ($6) and Seasonal Black Cold Brew ($6).
Trust me, these iced drinks come in handy especially on a hot day sitting on one of the four benches along the corridor.
The Cucumber and Lemon Soda ($6) comes with a single long slice of cucumber with lemon juice and soda water added.
Aesthetically pleasing with the shade of green, the Cucumber and Lemon Soda was the thirst quencher – fizzy with a citrus punch.
On weekends, their menu expanded to include Seaweed Madeleines, Country loaves and Smoked cheddar loaves.
For now, bye Supper Club and say hi to these breakfast snacks – granola.
