Waterway Point has a food and music festival from 20 October

Punggol has grown to become quite the hub for young and new families, but that doesn’t mean the ‘hood doesn’t have much going for it except family-friendly malls and HDBs. Waterway Point, Punggol’s largest heartland mall, is set to shake things up with their very first Food & Music Festival

While Waterway Point is best known for being a family-friendly destination with activities frequently targeted at the kiddos, the announcement of their Food & Music Festival lets the parents know that the mall has still got their backs. The festival promises booths with good food, booze, and live music from local acts, all best enjoyed with the mall’s gorgeous waterfront view.

The inaugural edition of the festival is held at The Plaza, the open-space area located at Waterway Point’s basement one. It’ll run for three days: on 20 October, from 5pm to 10pm, and on 21 October to 22 October, from 12pm to 10pm.

Start off your festival experience at the Chang Beer booth, where you can get Chang Draft Beer, Chang Classic Beer Bottles, and even their new limited edition Chang Espresso Lager Beer.

For the classic option, a 320ml cup or bottle costs $8, or you can get two of either for $15. The rich, full-bodied Chang Espresso Lager Beer, on the other hand, costs $10 a can, or $18 for two. Each can is 490ml. If you’re coming with a group, purchase four cans of the Espresso Lager Beer, and get a free Chang Beer-themed cooler bag—while stocks last!

If you’re not much of a beer person, make a beeline for the Cellarbration booth, where there will be a dedicated Hendricks bar serving up a variety of gin cocktails for just $8! These include the Hendricks Flora Adora & Tonic, where their latest botanical gin, Flora Adora, is used to make a G&T.

The Waterway Point Food & Music Festival also offers plenty to satisfy your hunger, not just your thirst. If you’re looking to treat your sweet tooth, swing by Patisserie Woo, a homegrown patisserie that specialises in artisanal bakes made with premium ingredients. They’ll be serving up their signature Meyer Lemon Tart ($9), complete with their buttery handmade tart crust, alongside three flavours of their sliced cakes: Earl Grey, Lemon, and Banana Walnut. These are priced at $4.50

Those looking to cool off from the heat can grab a scoop of Patisserie Woo’s handcrafted gelato instead, with unique flavours such as Wildflower Honey and Nougat, Sables and Cream and Triple Chocolate Treat. Prices start at $5 a scoop.

Homegrown cinnamon roll bakery, Rrooll, is also setting up a booth at the fair, so you can grab their freshly baked cinnamon buns here. As part of the fest, they’ll be launching two new flavours: the Pecan Classic Cinnamon Roll ($4.20) and the Zesty Lemon Cinnamon Roll ($3.90). The former comes with chopped pecans and a caramel glaze—a great autumnal treat—while the latter brightens up the sweetness of the classic cinnamon roll with a lemon glaze.

These flavours will also be sold in the form of all-new mini rolls, so don’t sweat it if you can’t commit to a full-sized bun. They’re launching these mini rolls exclusively at the festival. An assortment of four is priced at $6.80.

On the savoury front, there’s Lovely Thai Kitchen serving up a selection of Thai street food eats, from Kap Moo ($3), AKA crispy pork skin, to Moo Ping ($6 for three) pork skewers, both extra-delicious when paired with an ice-cold Chang Beer. You’ll also have the option of grabbing a portion of classic Mango Sticky Rice ($8) to round off your meal.

All this feasting is set to the backdrop of tunes from live music acts, who play from 6pm onwards. Bands such as The Nobodies and AGOPSG will be bringing the chill vibes with their live sets, featuring modern pop covers with a smattering of old-school hits.
