Coconut shakes is the new buzz beverage in Singapore, and I love them for being decadently-creamy and refreshing – much needed when the weather gets crazy hot.
And all hail the queen of coconut shakes, as the brand-new Coconut Queen lands in Singapore.
You can find outlets conveniently located at different parts of the island, at Takashimaya, Marina Square, Toa Payoh Central Food Alley, Clementi Blk 449, and NUS UTown Foodclique.
(Look out for 1-for 1 specials on all their Coconut Shakes and Juices only on 20 Oct at their new Takashimaya outlet.)
Made with only premium fresh coconut sourced from the best plantations in the region, the classic Coconut Shake includes coconut milk and coconut ice cream blended together for a frosty frozen dessert drink.
What’s special about Coconut Queen is other than the Original Coconut Shake, there are other fun and exciting flavours from Taro, Avocado, Strawberry, Lychee to the more unconventional Earl Grey and Jackfruit.
Here are 10 of the recommended Coconut Queen drinks:
Original Coconut Shake ($4.30)
The Original Coconut Shake is a smooth-blended slushie generously packed with coconut flesh, fresh coconut juice, and coconut ice cream, making this a great thirst-quencher.
You can choose sugar levels from 0%, 25%, 50%, 70% to regular of 100%.
As there is already some sweetness from the ice cream, I would say go for the no sugar or light at 25% to better appreciate the natural taste of the coconut.
For a more fun drinking experience, you can add on toppings of Nata de Coco, Rainbow Jelly, White Pearls, Aloe Vera or even more Coconut Ice Cream for a luxuriously-creamier take.
Toppings cost $0.50 to $1.20 more; and add $1 to upsize if you feel like having a large cup.
Avocado Coconut Shake ($5.20)
One of Coconut Queen’s top sellers, the Avocado Coconut Shake features the nuttiness of nuttiness of avocado combined with the tropical sweetness of coconuts in this shake.
Only real avocadoes are used in the blending. If you love the buttery texture and bright flavour of avocados, you are probably going to enjoy this smooth-rich drink.
Taro Coconut Shake ($4.80)
An ultra-creamy light-purple coloured shake with the sweet nutty flavour of taro paired with refreshing coconut.
While taro flavour is typically found in Bubble Tea, the earthiness and distinct yam-my taste compliments quite well with the creaminess of the ice cream, though it may get slightly filling.
Mango Coconut Shake ($5.20)
The tropical combination of mango and coconut together make this taste almost like Pina Colada – something you would like to have to feel like a summer beach holiday.
Plus, there are bits of fresh mango fruits on top of the shake, which adds some tangy bite when slurping.
Strawberry Coconut Shake ($5.20)
A must-try for those who crave for that berry goodness. This shake has that bright-fruity flavour blended with creamy richness, topped with fresh chopped strawberry fruit for that slight sweet-sour taste.
Earl Grey Coconut Shake ($4.80)
Not quite the conventional shake, this Earl Grey Coconut Shake is a blend of coconut juice, ice cream and flesh with freshly brewed earl grey tea.
You get the best of both in one cup with delicate tea aroma.
Lychee Coconut Shake ($5.20)
Two summer fruits united together to create this invigorating Lychee Coconut Shake, in which the chopped lychee fruits lends a light floral taste perfect for a sundowner treat.
Banana Coconut Shake ($5.20)
The Banana Coconut Shake is a thick velvety blend of ripe banana with fresh coconut, which can make a great energy-lifter or something to have in between meals.
Refreshing Coconut Juice ($4.50)
Other than Coconut Shakes, also available are Refreshing Coconut Juice and Calamansi Coconut Juice to quench your thirst at any time of the day.
Experience the joy of having coconut water from freshly-cracked top grade young coconuts and succulent coconut flesh within for that added bite, without having to dig them yourself.
Calamansi Coconut Juice ($4.80)
For something extra, Coconut Queen’s unique Calamansi Coconut Juice is a mix of coconut juice, coconut flesh with freshly squeezed calamansi and a hint of pandan.
The calamansi lends a lovely citrus tartness.
