Well, it seems that the Redhill and Bukit Merah areas are getting more “hipster” these days.
Joining the list of new cafes in that area are Lucky Saigon Cafe and Flourish Bakehouse nearer to Tanglin side, Bailey & Whiskey is located just a few units away from the new Mad Roaster at Depot Road.
This is opened by the owners behind Rhythm in Me, a kids dance studio, located just a few doors away in the same block.
As such, Bailey & Whiskey is created with kids in mind, a warm and cosy Safari-theme, equipped with wooden furnitures, potted plants, grass lawn and lots of animal plushies that can probably keep the kids occupied.
The cafe is spacious, with 20 tables indoors and a pets-friendly outdoor area that can accommodate another 4 tables.
Being a paw parent herself, the owner has named the cafe after her toy poodle, Bailey and black cat, Whiskey, but unfortunately, you won’t be able to catch any of them in the cafe.
Their menu comprised of All Day breakfast ($12 – $18), Mains ($15 – $19.50), Ice Cream (Single $4.50, Double $7), Pastries , Coffee ($3 – $7) and Tea ($8.50 – $9.50).
Diners can look forward to either toasts such as Whiskey’s French Toast ($16), Honey Drizzled Mascarpone Toast ($14), Nutty Butt ($14), Egg Mushroom Toast ($16), Avocado Salmon Toast ($18), or bowls – Super Smoothie Bowl ($14) and Dino Oat Bowl ($12) on their All Day Breakfast menu.
The Whiskey’s French Toast ($16) comes with 3 thick slices of brioche, nicely plated with blueberries, strawberries and blackcurrants and edible flowers.
Additional maple syrup is served on the side for extra sweetness and indulgence.
What I liked most is the thick brioche slices, moist and fluffy, generously coated with butter before pan-frying on the surfaces to add some crisp and to bring out the aroma.
For a more fulfilling meal, the mains include Carbonara ($18), Marinara ($18), Aglio Olio ($18), The Party Burger ($19.50) and Ciabatta Eggy ($15).
Pastries are all displayed on the counter, namely Raisin Scone ($3.90), Butter Croissant ($3.50), Muffin – Blueberry, Banana Walnut, Chocolate ($4.90), Oreo Cheesecake ($8.50), Yuzu Osmanthus Cake ($8.50), Ondeh Ondeh Cake ($8.50).
The Ondeh Ondeh Cake ($8.50) comes with a substantial amount of desiccated coconut drenched in Gula melaka sauce in between the layers of Pandan cake.
There is a nice amount of sweetness from the desiccated coconut which further adds a crunch to the overall textures even though the Pandan cake was slightly dry.
Using Allpress single origin Arabica beans for their espresso-based drinks, prices are reasonable starting from $3 for a cup of Espresso and $5 for a cup of White ($5).
Flavoured latte include Chai Latte ($6), Caramel Latte ($6), Matcha Latte ($6.50) and Iced Passionfruit Latte ($8.50).
My cup of Latte ($5) was smooth with a medium body, chocolatey and a slight acidic tone.
A cosy space with warm services from the crew and a good selection of hearty food, Bailey & Whiskey will be a good spot for parents to bring their kids and their fur kids there to check out.
