Perhaps it is a matter of timing and lack of marketing, that AtTea 署茗職茶 didn’t receive as much fanfare as it should. After all, this is Bubble Tea-crazed Singapore.
Everyone calls it the Jam Hsiao 蕭敬騰 Bubble Tea, as it is launched by the popular Taiwanese singer. Boss Hsiao certainly came a long way since his days in One Million Star 超级星光大道.
When the specialty tea concept was launched in Taipei’s Ximending (the ‘land’ of BBT) last year, it became a big hit and the brand continued to open 8 outlets.
The Singapore outlet is located at the less busy side of Tiong Bahru Plaza, decorated in striking vibrant orange with various instagrammable corners.
If you are deciding what to choose, the 5-best sellers are Cream Cheese Foam with Jam’s Oolong Tea ($6.30), Cream Cheese Foam Genmaicha Assam Black Tea ($6.30), Grapefruit Green Tea with Aloe ($7.20), Sugarcane Flavour Black Tea Au Lait with Pearl ($6.30), and Once Upon A Milk Tea with Pearls ($5.40).
I was most curious about a Sugarcane Flavour Black Tea Au Lait ($5.70) but shall leave it for another visit.
There are also more tiers of the sugar level than usual, with a 10% option – good for those who wants to go almost guilt-free but yet not losing out on all the fun.
I did order a 0% Grapefruit Green Tea with Aloe ($7.20) but it still turned out to be slightly sweet for me, but thankfully balanced with the tart and delicately-bitter grapefruit taste.
This was a very refreshing thirst-quencher, and not the pulpy type.
I also ordered the Jam’s Oolong Tea Au Lait ($5.70), included with additional Oolong Jelly.
Compared to some other BBT brands of Oolong Tea which come across more light or even diluted, this would come across as deep and mellow-bitter, and may keep some awake when drank too late at night.
The jelly was a good pairing, being soft and wobbly with delicate tea taste.
