As the saying goes, all good things must come to an end. Unfortunately, Singapore’s one and only beloved bird park will be ceasing its operations after 52 years on Jan 3, 2023. From Sept 3 to their last day next year, enjoy a series of fun activities before we bid farewell to one of our nation’s most popular attractions.

For those upset by the news, fret not as they will be relocating to Mandai and will be renamed as Bird Paradise.
The new attraction will be home to one of the largest groups of threatened avian species under human care, according to the Mandai Wildlife Group.
Revamping the Mandai area
First opened on Jan 3, 1971, Jurong Bird Park opened its doors as Asia’s largest bird park. Home to over 5000 birds with over 400 species, it cost over $3.5 million to build the bird park.
However in 2014, it was announced that the bird park will be relocating to the existing location of Singapore Zoo, Night Safari, and River Wonders. This was part of the Mandai area’s transformation into a mega nature attraction.
Additionally, a new park named Rainforest Wild will be built there , with rainforest explorations for visitors to enjoy. Immerse yourself in a wild and eye-opening experience where habitat, adventure, and animals are all rolled into one. Furthermore, the park will also house a dedicated facility for rehabilitation and treatment of rescued animals.
Several areas within the existing parks at Mandai will be undergoing an upgrade as well – like Kidzworld in Singapore Zoo and the Night Safari, where they will have a new amphitheatre with a seating capacity of 1000 people.
Hurry down before they close next year on Jan 3!
