Nacho Cheese, Tom Yum, and Chocolate Shake Shake Bola Bola?

Halal-certified Shake Shake In A Tub has unveiled a new product called “Shake Shake Bola Bola” – deep-fried potato balls made of fresh potatoes, filled with oozy fillings of nacho cheese, tom yum or chocolate.

Probably something you have not tried before.

For the Westies, the brand has launched a new outlet at Bukit Panjang Plaza – and this comes with a small sit-down area for you to rest your feet.

Other Shake Shake In A Tub kiosks can be found at AMK Hub, Century Square, The Clementi Mall, Great World, IMM Outlet, Northpoint City, Our Tampines Hub, and Suntec City. (The Shake Shake Bola Bola are first available at Great World, IMM, Century Square and Bukit Panjang.)

Here’s more:

Tom Yum Shake Shake Bola Bola ($3.20)
What you get are fillings of aromatic tom yum gravy cooked with prawns (you can taste pieces of them) wrapped within potato balls.

Worthy to mention is that these Bola Bola balls are not machine-created, but are hand-made with fresh potatoes, with flavours covered inside, then steamed until tender.

Before serving, they are deep-fried such that the outside is crispy with a melted core of flavoured fillings; and also come with a flavoured dusting. The Tom Yum balls are covered with shredded coconut for more of the Thai-cuisine savour.

These are not your typical potato balls as they are considered large – about the size of a fist, and rather filling. You can cut it apart like a lava cake, or use a spoon to dig within.

This spicy-tangy-savoury option will be great if you are looking for a light meal or tea-time snack.

Nacho Cheese Shake Shake Bola Bola ($3.20)
An East-meets-West creation, this Shake Shake Bola Bola contains oozy melted nacho cheese.

Golden-brown on the outside, with a burst of cheesy goodness on the inside, this is considered a family-friendly choice.

Chocolate Shake Shake Bola Bola ($3.20)
This chocolate ball oozes hot molten chocolate with a hint of roasted hazelnut, also dusted with chocolate cocoa powder on the outside.

Almost reminding me of chocolate-coated potato chips, this sweet-savoury option could be treated like a dessert and interestingly works.

This also tasted like Needham, a type of chocolate potato candy that originated in the state of Maine.

The Shake Shake Bola Bola is priced at $3.20 each, available for takeaways at 4 selected outlets of Great World, IMM, Century Square and Bukit Panjang.

Kick up the indulgence with the Shake Shake Bola Bola Double Bundle ($5.90), which comes with two servings of Shake Shake Bola Bola (any flavours) and a side of shoestring fries.

Bola Bola Shaker Bundle ($21.80 launch promotional price, U.P $36.30)
For a family feast, get the Bola Bola Shaker Bundle which is available for a promotional price of $21.80 (40% OFF).

The bundle comes with 3 Shake Shake Bola Bola, 5 pieces of Shake Shake Chicken, a set of flavoured shoestring fries, and a set of flavoured popcorn chicken (and Bola Bola themed edition of stickers). That is rather filling.

Other Shake Shake In A Tub signatures include:

Shake Shake Chicken ($5.90 for 4 pcs ala carte, $10.90 for 4 pcs combo, Also available are 8 and 12 pc)
Try the chicken coated in either the Original Soy Garlic for a classic flavour, or go for Spicy to add fiery power to your meal.

If this is your first time trying, I would recommend having the Original Soy Garlic.

You would find the crackling crisp chicken coated with a layer of savoury-sweet sticky sauce, hat may just remind you of your favourite Korean fried chicken.

Popcorn Chicken ($7.80 for medium with 1 flavour; $9.90 for huge with 2 flavours, $15.80 for giant with 3 flavours)
While the batter-coated, crispy fried popcorn chicken are still bite-sized, I was glad to find it quite meaty and not mainly flour-coating.

The popcorn chicken which are slightly larger than the usual bit-sized pieces, can be coated with Truffle, Cheese, Sour Cream, Mala, Curry, Barbeque or Buttercorn flavourings.

Try them with the recommended seasonings of smoky and tangy Barbecue or the sweet-savoury and earthy Curry Powder.

Shoestring Fries ($3.20 for regular of 1 flavour, $4.70 for large of 1 flavour, $6.70 for huge with 2 flavours, $8.80 for giant with 3 flavours, $10.80 for super giant with 4 flavours)
Fries imported from USA and shaken with your preferred seasonings – Truffle, Cheese, Sour Cream, Mala, Curry, Barbeque or Buttercorn.

Get the Mala Fries for a tingling on your tongue. While this may look non-intimidating at first, have a few more at a go and you would feel that addictive sensation on your tongue.
