Yay to dining in and yay to a new dessert ‘supper’ spot in Bedok till 2am.
Butterspace is the newest addition to the many ice cream places at Bedok, joining shops such as Hay Gelato, Haute And Cauld, Lick D Cream, Scoop of Joy, FatCat Ice Cream Bar, and Denzy Gelato.
That is indeed a handful of ice cream shops all in Bedok, with some opening till the ‘magical hour’ of 2am too.
Just a few doors away from La Creamery that offers Pu-Erh Waffles and botanical flavoured ice cream, Butterspace’s signature items are (thankfully) not ice cream but their bakes.
The 35-seater space has a muted industrial-theme, with black and white furniture pieces against the grey cemented floor.
From an online business to a brick-and-mortar shop, Butterspace offers their bestseller Cookie (Basic $3.80, Premium $4.50), Brownie ($1.60) and Cookie Sandwich ($8.50).
Basic cookies ($3.80) are available in these flavours: S’mores, Birthday Cake, Oreo and Colourful Circle whereas Premium ones ($4.50) include the Speculoos.
These somewhat reminded me of Nasty Cookie, known for their Tiffany blue packaging and chunky cookies filled with different toppings.
Beverage-wise, diners can expect Coffee ($3 – $4.50), Hot Tea ($3) and Shaken Tea ($3.50) on the menu, best to paired with the cookies.
Both the S’mores and Birthday Cake cookies came with marshmallows within, pre-heated and melted before serving to provide that stretchy and oozy texture when pulled apart.
I had the Cookie Sandwich ($8.50) with a choice of Cookie, Ice Cream, Topping (Oreo, Biscoff, Marshmallow, Rainbow Sprinkles, M&M), and Sauce (Maple syrup, Caramel, Chocolate).
The Birthday Cake cookie had a flaky and crunchy outer texture, complemented by its buttery scent and aroma.
The chocolate chips embedded within that adds a nice earthy and robust taste to the cookie base.
Break it apart to reveal the hidden melted marshmallows in it, giving it a molten, soft and stretchy layer that adds a different texture to the combination.
For those who want to get their ice cream fix, single scoops are priced at $3.50 each whereas double scoops at $6.50, with additional $0.80 for premium flavours and $4 for waffles.
The selection of ice cream flavours are pretty common such as Orh Nee, Dark Chocolate, Black Sesame, Strawberry Milk, Sawadee (Thai Milk Tea), Choco Banana and Cotton Candy.
The scoop of Orh Nee was decent, smooth and milky with notes of yam.
Butterspace will probably be an ideal place for some post-dinner dessert and late night supper (but don’t stay out too late during the 7th month okay?)
