During this tough COVID-19 climate, I thought of showing some support to the less-publicised hidden new cafes in Singapore.
Perhaps you have never heard of CA.Gelato Cafe. Even my friend who stays and works at Bukit Timah have not come across it.
This is opened by the CakeArtelier known for its agar agar and jelly cakes.

CA.Gelato Cafe is found at the slightly hidden away corner of Beauty World Plaza – not to be confused with Beauty World Centre where the food centre. This is at the lesser visited side.
However, there is a certain charm to this place. It adopts a hole-in-the-wall aesthetic with plants and dried flowers decorating the entrance.
As you walk up the stairs to the café on the second level, there is a minimalistic and nature-themed design of the cafe with many dry flowers around.
Moving onto the menu, there are the classics at $4 per scoop ($7 for double) and the premium flavours at $5.
Flavours include Cookie and Cream, Earl Grey Lavender, Strawberry Milk, Premium 85% Dark Chocolate, Chrysanthemum with Cacao Nibs, Apple Yakult, Chocolate Mint, and Pistachio.
Cone is at an additional dollar, while waffles is priced at $6.

In terms of first impression, the waffles with gelato didn’t appear as ‘instagrammable’ as some of the other established ice cream shops, in terms of the roundness and fullness of the scoops, and the drizzling of sauces.
However, I did enjoy both gelato ordered – the Chrysanthemum with Cacao Nibs and Chocolate Mint, as they came with a certain smoothness and richness, while the nibs added textural contrast.
As a feedback, perhaps the floral chrysanthemum and mint flavours could be slightly more pronounced. Also, they could spend this time doing up the labels as they are currently handwritten on cardboard.

All the handcrafted drinks were developed in-house. Specialty drinks include the Latte Floaty ($9), Mocha Blendy ($7.50), and Apple Fizzy ($4).
For takeaways, these drinks will be packaged in special spin and seal bottles for customers.
