Without hopes of travelling anytime soon due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Singaporeans are always on the lookout for overseas vibes in local cafes and restaurants.
Bringing a piece of Bali to Singapore, Bali on the Cove is the latest addition to Sentosa Quayside Isle located just few doors away from bicycle-themed cafe Crank n’ Chain.
This new space includes a cafe, retail boutique and a co-working space.
Bali has a distinctive vibe by creating harmony and balance between human, nature and religion, reflected in their architectures and decoration.
Here at Bali on the Cove, you can expect floor-to-ceiling glass windows for natural lighting and use of raw, natural materials such as rattan and wood for furnitures.
Earthly colours such as white, brown and green are commonly used in various corners. There is also a retail boutique in the centre area displaying various sculptures and ornaments.
Serving brunch food from 8am till 4pm daily, I didn’t get to order their dishes due to a plumbing issue during my time of visit.
Their brunch menu features a selection of the usual brunch fare slightly on the pricey side such as Acai Bowl ($18), Mixed grain Bircher muesli ($18), Egg Benedict on Sourdough with Bacon ($25), Eggs on Toast ($18) and Chia Pudding ($16).
Pastries are sourced from Starter Lab; while cakes supplied by The Whole Kitchen are available all day round.
The Croissant ($6), Pain Au Chocolat ($6) and Cinnamon Danish Swirl ($6) are aesthetically served in a rattan bread basket.
Originated from Bali, Starter Lab is known for their sourdough loaves and posh toast with outstanding reviews as the “Gucci Of Bread”.
My favourite was the Cinnamon Danish Swirl ($6) with a light, flaky and buttery crust, flavourfully dusted with cinnamon sugar.
The Pain Au Chocolat ($6) was as indulgent, with generous amount of chocolate sauce in between the thin, flaky layers.
Perhaps heating it up before serving will enhance the experience as nothing beats a pastry “fresh from the oven”.
Using coffee beans from Common Man Coffee Roasters for their espresso-based drinks: Black ($5), White ($6.50) and Piccolo ($5.50).
Just a simple cup of coffee, cafe hoppers will be disappointed to know that there is no latte art drawn here.
The hot latte faired better than the iced version, with the latter being a tad milky.
Non-coffee drinkers can expect Juices ($12) by Juice Cartel and a small selection of tea at $6 each.
Imagine yourself dining in “Bali” with your pet at the a pet-friendly 30-seaters alfresco dining space, while enjoying a cup of coffee with the surrounding lush greeneries.
This is probably one of the closest to Bali vibes you can get in a Singapore cafe.
