1. Dough

Joining the ranks of famous cafes within CHIJMES is a new bakery-cafe named Dough. Another venture by owners of Glyph Supply Co, the cafe features a modern and posh interior. For mains, they have Flavours of Shrooms ($22), which laces handmade pasta with mushrooms and black garlic. The place is particularly known for their bread and bakes, which includes the likes of Matcha Mochi ($5), a brioche bun that is laden with soft rice cake.

2. The Glasshouse

The floor-to-ceiling windows of The Glasshouse allow natural lighting to flood in, and when combined with the multiple potted plants, the ambience does live up to its name. Behind the glass windows is a nursery of brunch classics such as Classic Salmon Toast ($15), where sourdough is topped with umami-rich smoked salmon. For the more adventurous, try their Bo Ssam Pulled Pork Burger ($16), which is a combination of kimchi and tender pulled pork.

3. Almost Famous
Almost Famous at CHIJMES has a minimalist concept that not only applies to the interior but the menu as well. Along with craft beer, they serve a range of unique bar bites. For a spicy kick, try their Tom Yum Gyoza ($10+), which comes atop a bed of creamy tom yum sauce. If regular truffle fries aren’t atas enough for you, they have Luxury Fries ($16+), which are regular truffle fries that come with a side of caviar.

4. Hvala

Hvala at CHIJMES transports you right into a traditional Japanese tea house with its tatami seats and calligraphy paintings around the shop. Try their Chaffogato ($7.80+), which puts a twist on the coffee-based dessert with matcha instead. They are also known for their vegan-friendly menu, where you can pair their crispy Dairy-Free Waffles ($11.80+) with their indulgent Dairy-Free Gelatos (from $5.80+). For refreshing citrus flavours, they also sell a slice of Yuzu Cake at $8.80+.

5. Konjiki Hototogisu
Having been awarded a Michelin star, Konjiki Hototogisu stays accessible with their relatively cheap prices in CHIJMES. Their Shoyu Hamaguri Soup Ramen ($14.90++) is garnished with truffle paste and porcini mushrooms, creating a broth laden with umami. For a spicy kick, they have Tonkotsu Spicy ($14.90++), which is flavoured by spicy minced meat and beans to achieve an almost throat-burning kick.

6. Coriander Leaf
Named after a divisive garnish, Coriander Leaf features a largely gluten-free and vegetarian menu with a diversity of flavours labelled ‘Fresh’, ‘Familiar’, ‘Spicy’, ‘Umami’, and ‘Sweet’. A must-try is their Soft Shell Crab ($19++), which is dressed in the Singaporean’s favourite salted duck egg yolk sauce, where the creamy and spicy sauce brings out the sweetness of the crab.

Privé creates a beautiful and serene ambience with its al fresco dining area, fairy lights, and lush greenery. With a relaxing environment to try out their diverse palette of food, start from our local classic, a fiery Singapore Seafood Laksa ($16++) that comes with quail eggs, fishcakes, and sotong inside a creamy broth. 9. IndoChine
IndoChine derived its name from the Indochina region, which explains the influences of its dishes. They offer zhng-ed up bowls of Vietnamese staples, befitting the upscale vibes of CHIJMES. For French-Japanese fusion food in a beautiful ambience, Whitegrass has seasonal omakase menus curated by head chef Takuya Yamashita. Their Spring Lunch Executive Menu ($68++) features the use of Shirobuta pork, which is prized for its tenderness and rich flavours. There is also a Creation Menu ($138++), which comes with Maple Leaf Duck—made from a specific species of farm-raised ducks, raised with extra care to be more tender, rich, and flavorful than regular ones.
