How many Shake Shack do we need in Singapore?
Shake Shack Singapore will be opening its seventh fine-casual restaurant at the iconic Gardens by the Bay, in the heart of Marina Bay.
For this outlet, the fast-casual restaurant has partnered with Singaporean artist soph O for a spirited mural construction which was inspired by the lush flora and fauna of the national garden.
In case you missed out, Shake Shack has already opened at JEWEL Changi Airport, Neil Road, Orchard Road Liat Towers, Suntec City, VivoCity and Great World.
New to Shake Shack?
It is a fast-casual restaurant known for its 100% all-natural Angus beef burgers, flat-top beef hotdogs, spun-fresh frozen custard, and crinkle cut fries.
It offerings include ShackBurger ($9.20 for single, $12.70 for double), SmokeShack ($10.90, $14.40), ‘Shroom Burger ($10.80), Shack Stack ($14.30), Hamburger ($7.50), and the newly introduced Chick’n Shack ($9.20).
If you have never had a Shake Shack before, then you can probably try getting either the SmokeShake (get the double) or the Shack Stack which contains a combination of crispy-fried portobello mushroom, the signature juicy Angus beef patty, and slice of cheese.
Having crispy mushroom and moist patty, while messy to eat, gives the overall bite a more layered contrast.
Not sure if it is psychological, but law of diminishing marginal returns at work, I remember having a slightly better burger at Jewel.
I also tried the Chick’n Shack ($9.20) which contained crispy chicken breast, lettuce, pickles, and buttermilk herb mayo.
Probably a safe choice for customers who are not inclined to take beef, but nothing very exciting about yet-another chicken burger. Go for the juicier and more distinctive beef who is really their signature.
There was a recent Jalapeño Ranch ShackBurger ($11.90 for single, $15.40 for double) launched with the opening of Great World. (Do their burgers just get more expensive?)
The beef ShackBurger is spread with a ranch sauce made with parmesan, black pepper and fresh sliced jalapeños, though I didn’t feel that it added much of a difference considering its whole.
Perhaps the proportion of the jalapeños or the piquant-level could be upped.
Comparatively, the sauce made more of a difference to the Jalapeño Ranch Fries ($6.50), as there was more going on from the tangy sauce, bacon bits to spring onions.
With the hot weather outside, you probably need one of the Hand-Shaken Lemonade ($5.30) – available in lychee, blueberry or mango flavours; or the Sparking Lemonade ($5.30) with passion fruit and raspberry to cool yourself down.
Warning though, the drinks and shakes are generally VERY sweet.
