Keong Saik Bakery has new XXL kouign amann
French pastry lovers have been living it up of late, what with the announcement that famed patisserie Cedric Grolet has opened in Singapore, and Alice Boulangerie debuting their XXL croissant. Following in the footsteps of the latter is Keong Saik Bakery, which is now selling an upsized version of their famed kouign amann, as well as equally huge croissants.
This Viral XXXL Croissant Is Now Available In Singapore
Bigger than your head, and coming in at a whopping 1.1kg each, these pastries bring on a whole new meaning to “snacktime”. Naturally, you’re not meant to enjoy these alone, but more power to you if you do.
The croissant is priced at $98++, and is made with 100% French butter.
Flaky, and perfumed with the richness of butter, these are definitely great to enjoy as it, or along with a coffee. If the XXL ones are too ambitious for you, they also have regular-sized butter croissants priced at $4++.
The other huge pastry on the menu is their kouign amann. For the uninitiated, a kouign amann is a signature pastry from the Brittany region in France. Buttery laminated pastry is dressed with sugar, which becomes a sticky, almost caramelly coating upon baking. At Keong Saik Bakery, you can get a massive kouign amann for just $98++.
There’s also the regular-sized option for $4.30++, if the upsized one is too ambitious. They also have a Miso Kouign-Amann ($5++), which balances the sweetness of the pastry with miso and seaweed.
Keong Saik Bakery has also very recently relocated its flagship to Bendemeer’s Luzerne, with a huge dine-in space, making this a great spot to grab fresh bakes or a full-on meal.
Apart from the pastries we’ve just listed, the homegrown bakery is renowned for their inventive fusion treats, think Matcha Burnt Cheese Cruffins ($6.80), Mentaiko Croissant Cubes ($6.90) and the like.
