Kumoya is set to open a Sumikkogurashi pop-up cafe from 12 March at their Orchard outlet, following the long run of their Rilakkuma-themed cafe.

For those uninitiated to Sumikkogurashi, this is a group of fictional characters created by San-X, a Japanese stationery company that also designed Rilakkuma. There are six adorable characters—a bear named Shirokuma, a cat named Neko, a dinosaur named Tokage, a nameless Penguin, a leftover Tonkatsu cutlet piece, and leftover Tapioca balls from a cup of milk tea.

Just like the other Kumoya pop-up cafes, you can expect themed dishes designed by local bento artist Shirley Wong, better known as Little Miss Bento. There are six snacks, six mains, three desserts, and 13 drinks on the menu, priced from $11.90 to $26.90. Individual prices for each dishes are to be determined.
It’s noteworthy that though Kumoya isn’t halal-certified, the dishes are prepared with Muslim-friendly ingredients.

If you’re here for brunch, consider the Rosti Breakfast that comes with eggs, sausages, salad, as well as adorable Sumikkogurashi cut-outs. If not, they have other mains like Beef Stew and Cold Udon to fill you up.
To pair with your food, there’s a drink selection available, of which you can opt for the Iced Matcha or Mango Yuzu Frappe, all served in glasses decorated with Sumikkogurashi characters. Do note that a minimum order of one food or drink per diner is required.

To round off your meal on a sweet note, get the IG-worthy Terrarium, a terrarium-shaped dessert that comes layered with goodies like fresh fruit and ice cream. There are also Waffles available, for a more classic sweet treat.
Depending on the crowd, dining time may be limited to 90 minutes per table. We highly recommend making reservations on Kumoya’s Chope page, or their social media sites like their Facebook page and Instagram page.
Kumoya has also recently opened a new Molang pop-up cafe at their Jalan Klapa location. Otherwise, for more eats near Orchard, check out our ION Orchard food guide.
