If you, like me, are a die-hard fan of Korean fried chicken, then check out Phat Jack SG, a new  stall in One Punggol Hawker Centre

Run by a Korean national living in Singapore, this hawker stall opened its doors in November 2022. Not only do they offer Korean fried chicken, they also serve smash burgers, which feature patties that are flattened while grilling. This gives each burger patty a char on the outside while retaining the juiciness of the meat on the inside.

The star of the show, the Yangnyeom Korean Fried Chicken, is what most diners come for. It’s generously coated in a sweet and spicy sauce, all while sporting crispy battered skin. The dish comes in different portions priced from $6.80. You can get them in quantities of six, 12 and 18.

There’s also an option to get two flavours of chicken wings in one box, otherwise referred to as ‘half-half’ or ‘banban’ in Korean. Alongside the Yangnyeom chicken, get the Soy Garlic flavour, which is said to be sweet, savoury, and umami.

Otherwise, the burgers at Phat Jack SG are a must-try. The Beef Bulgogi Burger ($7.80) is packed with caramelised onions on top of US striploin bulgogi beef, fresh lettuce, and a house-made mayonnaise sauce. It’s also served with shoestring fries on the side.

There’s also the Gochujang Fried Chicken Burger ($7.20), another best-selling burger. Featuring a thick and juicy fried chicken patty that’s coated in Phat Jack’s signature sweet-spicy sauce, it’s paired with a house-made cabbage slaw for added crunch.

Mushroom lovers will enjoy the Oyster Mushroom Beef Burger ($8.60), which sees king oyster mushrooms glazed in teriyaki sauce, caramelised onions, Korean daikon, and melted cheese stacked on top of a juicy beef patty. It is then finished with Phat Jack’s signature Yangnyeom sauce for an extra kick of spice!
