Annyeonghaseyo! Kumoya is back again with South East Asia’s first pop-up cafe featuring LINE FRIENDS and BT21. The My Little Buddy Cafe will be opening from 21 October 2022 at Orchard Central for a limited time only, with decor and dishes starring the adorable characters.

If you aren’t familiar with these characters, LINE FRIENDS are extremely popular in South Korea after they were invented by local designer Kang Byeong Mok, as stickers for the LINE mobile messenger app. As for BT21, they were created as part of a 2017 collaboration project between South Korean boy band BTS, and LINE FRIENDS.
The menu at My Little Buddy Cafe has been specially designed in collaboration with local bento artist Shirley Wong, AKA @littmissbento on Instagram. As with all Kumoya pop-ups, the food here is prepared with halal-certified ingredients.

Get their Mini Tater Tots & Sweet Potato Mochi Balls ($13.90+) for starters. These goodies are served with a creamy mayonnaise dip.

You can also opt for their Karaage Chicken with Soy Garlic Glaze ($15.90+) if you love Korean fried chicken. Have these with the accompanying garlic dip for an extra dash of savouriness.

Moving on to the mains, seafood lovers can go for the CHIMMY and MANG Seafood Curry Rice ($28.90+). It sees a bed of Japanese rice, coloured yellow with turmeric and shaped in the form of the BT21 character CHIMMY. This dish is served with assorted karaage seafood and a house-made Japanese curry.

My Little Buddy Cafe also offers other options if you prefer not to have seafood. Their BROWN and CONY Cheese Burger with Spicy Kimchi Mayo ($26.90+) features a LINE FRIENDS Brown bear stamped bun, cheddar cheese, and a beef patty slathered in a spicy kimchi mayo sauce. It is served with fresh salad and French fries, too. If you prefer, you can request for a plant-based patty instead.

For something more indulgent, the LINE FRIENDS Iced Chocolate ($12.90+) would be a good pick.

The My Little Buddy BT21 Chocolate Fondue Churros ($25.90+) comes with a heaping pile of churros, marshmallows, fresh fruit, and whipped cream, accompanied by vanilla ice cream and a chocolate fondue. This sweet treat is finished with a house-made BT21 butter cookie.
