Muslim-owned Savoureux for French-Japanese Food

You might have heard of Miam Miam, a popular restaurant chain that serves French-Japanese fare. Their offerings are unique, but aren’t halal-friendly. If you’ve been looking for a similar concept that fills that gap, head to Savoureux in Jalan Besar, a Muslim-owned eatery that caters to those of us looking for a halal-friendly alternative.

Chef Azlie Mohammed, who is a member of the Singapore Halal Culinary Federation, is the man behind Savoureux. His wealth of experience includes working alongside two Michelin-starred Chef Jean-Francois Piege, and Christopher James Millar, the executive chef of 1-Altitude.

With Chef Azlie’s experience at La Maison Fatien, you can’t go wrong with their Soupe De Boeuf à L’oignon ($13++). This classic French dish features hearty chunks of beef and a thick slice of toast. The toast is covered with cheese and broiled to slightly crisp ends, and an oozing cheese pull.

Moving on from the appetisers, go for their bestselling Burger De Boeuf Foie Gras ($38++), AKA beef burger with foie gras. This decadent burger stars a thick Wagyu beef patty, stacked with pan-seared foie gras, and Emmental cheese, sandwiched between brioche buns.

Being a French-Japanese restaurant, Savoureux also spins off typical Japanese dishes such as udon soup. They’re spicy Ryu Udon ($25++) comes with udon, sous-vide Angus beef, broccolini, and an onsen egg.

Besides the wide spread of starters and mains, Savoureux offers unique, non-alcoholic drinks and desserts, too. Their Butterscotch Beer ($12++) sees a sweet toffee soda topped with thick, creamy foam.

You can also try their Honey Peach Popsicle Soda ($12++) for a fizzy, tropical respite from our warm weather.

For more French-Japanese restaurants in Singapore, we recommend visiting Miam Miam. Otherwise, you can also visit these French restaurants.
